A thread yesterday got me fired up about the CMP. I've visited their Ohio location and the people/staff were fantastic. I was able to hand select a gorgeous M1 Garand for only $900 at the time, out of racks of various condition Garands. I've also had some mailed to me, and been overall impressed with their quality. At the time, they were around $600, and IMO worth several times that given their history and design quality and utility. It's a great organization that provides an incredible service. Here's a video about the CMP in Alabama, and also ~86,000 M1 Garands from the Philippines the CMP just received. It's an exciting time with all these new M1s being cleaned and restored and sold. Now is a great time to add one to your collection. CMP pays for the repatriation of these guns, and programs, and ranges, and such in part thru firearms sales and proceeds. The CMP rep talks about the millions of dollars spent in inventorying, cleaning, inspecting, and returning the rifles home. At the 9 min mark they are unboxing 86,000 M1 Garands... pretty dang cool. https://www.facebook.com/21360083532293 ... 237736841/Here's an example of a $600 one I had shipped to me and I was incredibly happy when unboxing it. Another picture of a different Garand shipped to me, shooting it. You can see the casing photographed in the air! Another picture of a different time, at the CMP, hand picking a Garand. Cool experience.

"The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - St. George Tucker

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow...
For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding." - Jeff Snyder
Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

As a Washington State resident, can I drive to a CMP facility, e.g. CMF North or South, and pickup a Garand, after background check and payment of course.
Or do I need to have it mailed to a FFL in WA state?

As I asked before, has anyone picked up a rifle at one of the CMP locations, or do you need to mail it back to WA State?
