Had a friend of my sons Springfield XD45 in my safe for a few weeks. When I went to retrieve it for him I check his mag to make sure I was getting him the right one. I don’t have a .45 so it was easy, but I noticed it was loaded with +P hollow points. I asked if he had run any of those rounds through the pistol and he indicated he didn’t even notice the difference. He just grabbed a box of .45 hollow points and loaded those for SD. Never used them at the range. This led me to a discussion with my Dad. He thought they’d be fine. I thought they might be fine, until they weren’t, then they weren’t fine at all...

Should be fine, but cause increased wear compared to standard loads.
The pistol also has a conversion for 460 Rowland/45 super...

I ran 185 grain DoubleTap ammo for my XDS as carry. Although not specifically +P, it definitely was getting towards that end of the spectrum. Should be fine for SD rounds, but I wouldn't give it a steady diet of +P.

I ran tons of +P self-defense ammo through my XD-45 with no issues. Those pistols are built like tanks - I wouldn't be the least bit worried about it.
