A tip from a neighbor about a man in possession of "a large number of guns" turned out to be an understatement. When Los Angeles County sheriffs showed up at the home with a warrant they found 432 guns at his house -- and that was just the beginning of his arsenal.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Department of Justice announced the unbelievable cache of weapons on Monday after seizing the weapons last week.

Manuel Fernandez, 60, of Agua Dulce, California, was already a convicted felon and was taken into custody for being a felon in possession of firearms, possession of an assault rifle, a felon in possession of ammunition and possession of large capacity magazines.

In one of the earlier threads I noticed that the greatest quantity of long guns found in busts like this seemed to be bolt actions, not semi-autos / tactical guns. Take a look at this haul here: https://abcnews.go.com/US/550-guns-seiz ... d=55994959

Most of what I see are bolt actions. It's just curious to me.

There must be more to the story, a person tipped off the police that a person with a felony conviction had a bunch of guns??? Do they go of just a person's word for Probable Cause or is this all it takes to get a warrant in the Communist Republik of Kalifornia?

Even in California it takes more than just a tip to get a search warrant. The tip was probably just the start and there was a subsequent investigation which provided enough information for an officer/detective to apply for a warrant. To do that they have to present an "Sworn" affidavit to a Judge outlining their probable cause. If the facts presented to the judge are fabricated it's end of career and jail time for the officer that knowingly did so.

With that many guns it probably wouldn't be too hard to find sufficient "cause" in the form of friends/neighbors testimony, pictures, and maybe "plain view" after an officer just knocks on the door and homeowner opens it.

FWIW, California Law Enforcement has come under all kinds of past scrutiny. Good chance they are playing by the rules more times than not today.

A doggoned shame...

but the operative phrase here is, "felon".

That's the Big Joker on the board. Nothing else this guy does or says---unless he had his rights fully restored--counts at all.

Bottom line...felons can't have guns or ammo.

Again, multi prior felon caught with guns, and the Commiefornia Police trot them all out to get the anti gunners in a rage, "This is why guns need to be banned." Never mind that the guy probably should have still been in custody from one of his priors.

The kicker? Apparently he is out on bail according to a member at TOS. Ridiculous.

In the late 60's, early 70's our neighbor on Mercer Island had probably 200-300 long guns propped against the walls all around his huge study.
Double rifles, drillings, fine shotguns.....
His son and I used to go check them out after school when we were in the 3rd grade.

Son told me his dad 'worked for Winchester' but not many of them were Winchesters. So I dunno.
But it was sure a cool collection.

the question I always ask is why? Why do we care if a felon owns guns? If they are soooo dangerous, why don't we change our prisons and sentencing guidelines.

Agreed! +10,000,000!

I say that we need a complete overhaul of our criminal justice system.

Truth in sentencing. What you get in Court is what you get. Get rid of parole. Jail is NOT supposed to be a pleasant place. Change the sentencing guidelines to reflect that.
Make punishment harsh and swift--and COMPLETE. Once a person completes their sentence, they are released with ALL RIGHTS RESTORED--for specific first time offenders ONLY. Second offense? You become a resident of the husgado for a long, long time.

Arson or robbery where no one is hurt? 10 years, hard labor.

Attempted murder? 15 years, hard labor.

Rape, kidnapping, murder? Death penalty.

It's always amazed me that the voters put up with laws allowing violent criminals (rape, kidnap, murder) to get out of prison.
