Has anyone taken the defensive handgun 1 class at West Coast Armory? If you have, could you share your experience?
Interested in taking it but wondering if I should just save my money and take the 2 day handgun class at insights instead.
Let me know if you have any experience with the WCA class and if you recommend it!

I'm confused, perhaps I'm misreading...
Insights classes are at West Coast Armory.
Are you just asking if you should take a 1 or 2 day class?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm specifically talking about the class offered directly by Westcoast Armory. I believe they have their own trainers on sight now who are not associated with insight. Insights still uses WCA for the range though. Here is the class: https://app.rockgympro.com/b/widget/?a= ... id=&mode=e

I have taken many Insights classes and highly recommend them. When chatting with folks that have taken the WCA classes, I have found that significantly more information was covered with Insights. Not saying anything is "bad" about WCA, just that the class format that Insights has polished over the years makes a difference.
And you will absorb and retain more knowledge if you take a two day class, where you are putting what you learned into practice 12 hours later instead of the next time you happen to get to the range.

John Holschen is a master teacher, if you can take only one class, make it any he teaches (Insights). I've also taken Insights classes from Greg Hamilton, excellent. If you can take more than one class, take as many as you can, as/when you can. The sooner you begin "better practice", based on training, the better off you will be long term. what you do in practice is more important than the amount you practice. Training lets you "practice better."

I took defensive handgun 1 and 2 at WCA a couple years ago with my wife. Was extremely basic but definitely a good reminder of proper handgun handling and techinque. I would recommend them to somebody newer to guns. However I’ve heard good things about Insights (any location) but also NRA led training

Wow, interesting. I didn't know WCA started their own classes.
Thanks for the info.
Not to derail the thread, but Insights had a Glock Armorer's class taught by George Handa that doesn't seem to be on the list anymore.
Anybody know anything about why it's no longer taught ?
