I bought & built a PSA pistol kit a couple of weeks ago. I've yet to fire it, but want to give it a try. It has a Shockwave V2 Adjustable Blade pistol stabilizer which isn't much more than a tube on top of a thin-ish plastic blade. It's all very angle-y and uncomfortable and I'm not sure how to use it. Is there any reason I can't make it more comfortable? Say a nice wooden plug that fits in the buffer tube that presents a rounded profile instead of sharp angles? Maybe further softened with some nice cushy paracord? You know, so my wrist isn't grumpy when I'm shooting it.

The best way is to take it off and install an SB Tactical brace. Having said that, i have a KAK on an AR-9 pistol and it's fine, but the thinness of the blade with a Rifle round leaves much to be desired against your shoulder. It will get old fast. Then there is the aesthetics...it's Fugly. As a matter of fact, it's so Fugly mine will show up here for sale when i buy another SB brace for said AR-9 Pistol.

^ Yeah, pretty much what he said. From a legal perspective, you don't want to mess with the design of a brace lest it be construed that you redesigned it with the intent of shouldering it.
I haven't put mine together (bought at the same time) yet, but I'm expecting the KAK brace to be just fine for 5.56 use. For a bigger caliber, though, I'd want a better/softer brace.

Shaping the corners for a round profile and adding a strip of rubber gasket/tire with super glue to back could definitely be viewed as such.

Or a shooting jacket
As long as it's not attached to the gun it won't affect it's designation
