One thing I've always wondered is why there is such a huge disparity in price between a Glock and S&W M&P? Right now the S&W M&P 2.0 is $379 on Grabagun, vs. a G19 5th gen is $594 (or thereabouts). And the same on the secondary market.

I'm not an armorer. Is it quality? or brand religiosity, like Harley Davidson?

MadPick and I have great fun tossing insults at each other re: the Glock vs. S&W M&P models. But even Ford and Chevy are roughly comparable in quality/longevity/features.

Glocks are Nikes, M&P's are Reeboks. And everyone knows Reeboks suck!

Glocks are Toyota Camrys and M&Ps are Honda Accords.

And while I trust a Glock to work every time, I would much rather have an M&P in my hands because they just feel better to me and I prefer shooting them.
And they're made in America! Go USA!!

I have both and like them both, in different ways..

The big difference for me, is that I can make a Glock trigger 'nice' for ~$35 , but it takes $150 or so to get a M&P trigger I like..

Manufacturers, in general, have been known to adjust pricing in order to change their market share numbers.

Glock built a successful brand and is cashing in on it. If sales are strong, why lower the pricing?

In my opinion based on my experience M&Ps are just as reliable as Glocks. Were there recalls on M&Ps? Yes, but Glock has had recalls too, so to me it's a wash there. If one feels and shoots better for you, get it. Having trained a lot with both, I greatly prefer the M&Ps (with $40 Apex triggers).

Toyota doesn't budge on their pricing, cause they know people will buy one anyway. Same thing here.

By that logic, XD > M&P, which is sheer insanity.

Although, gotta say S&W really does need to get off their asses and make a 10mm M&P. Being heavily invested in the 40 game I can reload 10mm for almost the same as 40 (just a bit more powder) and I really want a 10mm for the woods.
