There were 12 form examiners. One just retired, now there are 11. No plans to hire a new person at this time.
The "shutdown" put them behind by quite a bit, due the "one step forward two steps back" situation with the amount of applications coming daily vs. how many are getting done each day.
9 1/2 months is the average right now for any submission after Jan 1, 2013. By Dec 1 the average will be over 10 months.
The "start" date is the date your check is cashed.
Plan on future NFA items taking 12+ months...
..have patience, play their game. You'll get your can.

Yup...
Pay and wait. The sooner you start... the sooner you'll get it.
Doesn't mean you'll get if faster by doing it. Just means you start your clock now... rather than whenever.
Love my 5.56 now just waiting for my .22 can (mid/late next year)

Sorry dude. The odds you won't get it by end of year... I am not taking that bet. I think you're right. NWRed wrote: E-forms, same day or next day "check cashed", "pending approval" ;) First, there is no such thing as "pending approval" anymore. Second, as the previous guy said, the eforms save you only a day or two over paper. It's all the same pile.

I'm waiting on the stamp for my integral 15/22 to come in. Patiently. Since March 5, 2013. It will be here soon.
In the meantime I go down to the shop once in awhile to fondle my 15/22 SBR that can't leave the premises. haha

*update*
stamp arrived Saturday for my can. 12/21/13. 9 months, 16 days. Not bad in this political climate.
2 down, 3 to go.
