Everything is electronic. You don't need to touch any paper except for your scanned trust.

Aaaand this is why I have a love/hate relationship with the Interwebz. So many "guides" saying to attach a hard copy of a Form 1. :cussing:

Thanks, Steve. thumbsup

Would like to hear how it worked with the 50 BMG. Tested with standard gr/fps rounds? Very interested in this.

This was great info... I had thought that most cans were aluminum for weight. Thanks!

This thread is very good stuff... Look forward to getting going on my own projects. The long wait for approval sounds like the most tedious part of the process.

So, I have a couple more questions for you sages out there before I submit my eForm.

Is the document attachment function within the Line Item section intended only for drawings/plans (not applicable to silencers)? Because I'm now realizing that there's a separate Electronic Document section (doh!) to be used for attaching the copy of the trust.

Did anyone else get these little warning messages? If so, what did you do about it, if anything?

So I click on "Edit" for the line item, and I see this:

I used "N/A" for the model.

Changing that doesn't eliminate the error message.

I clicked on the expand icon on the line item, and I noticed that 'Description' is blank. So I went back through all the screens, and there is no 'Description' field anywhere for me to fill in. Was that your experience, too?

Also, where did you attach your trust copy...in the Line Item section or in the Electronic Documents section (or both)?

EDIT: And now when I proceed to 'Certify', I see this:

Quote:
The model or manufacturer you have indicated is either “unknown” or is not listed in the ATF reference tables. ATF will have to validate the information you provided prior to rendering a decision on your application. This may extend the average processing time for this application. Please attach copies of any additional information that you feel will assist us with this validation.
Line Item

I still can't figure out what's missing/wrong. Anyone know?

Should you uncheck the box in the middle?

The trust goes in the Electronic Documents section . . . not under each Line Item section.

Bingo!

I checked it because I didn't want to use any of the supplied Models, not realizing that, had I scrolled down farther in the list, I would have found "N/A".

eForm 1 submitted! Now, I wait for that sucking sound from my bank account, and then I wait some more...

Thanks again for the help. :wagwoot:

Good work! I have another one or two to do myself. I figure I'll get the Form 1 approved now, and then build it later . . . whenever I want to . . . or maybe even never at all. But at least I'll be approved.

Damn, that's a hard line of thought to fight... I'm on it!

Yup, might as well throw another one or two in now!

I had a similar issue selecting caliber, apparently nobody has made a 12ga silencer using eforms before. Really hoping it doesn't cause any serious delay, what with 41p arriving.

I'm sitting on five approved stamps and four pending, but I've only completed one actual unit so far. Just starting work on number two.

You're going to get really good at this! Share some of them with us as you get them done!

I sent a question in through the 'ask the experts' on the eforms site, about how much delay it could cause for the 12 gauge info not being one of the existing options. Here is the response I got.

"The NFA Branch will need to confirm the information and enter it into our tables. Once done, the form will move into pending review status. There is a backlog currently that the NFA Branch is working to descrease"

Looks like relatively good news, if this is true, I bet the model list issue will be the same.

I'll try to take some pictures the next time I clean my finished can, as long as nobody makes fun of the poor machining. I bought a lathe with no experience or training, and I'm teaching myself from books as I go.

Choosing a name not on the list did not seem to delay mine at all. As long at it goes in prior to 41P going into effect, you're okay.

I've been doing research on building my own can for my brand new 300blk pistol... and while at Wade's today, one of the employees told me that Washington state isn't "recognizing" Form 1's for cans currently? ...Is this true? or do they just want me to spend $1100 at their shop?

I would rather try my hand at building it.
