I am going to use this thread to track my BATFE progress on the timeline to approval for my newly purchased
C3 Clandestine Suppressor from
Ortwein International. I'll keep it updated and bumped as receive info and updates.

Captain's Log, Stardate..... :-T
Day 1: 07/28/2011Today, my manila envelope containing 2 signed originals of the Form 4, a certificate of 922r compliance, a copy of my Living Trust, my Schedule "A" and a $200 personal check begins it's USPS trip to Atlanta, GA. It's been out of my hands for less than 5 minutes and I already want to call BATFE to check on my status :((
Day 5: 08/02/2011I checked my bank today (8/3) and saw that my $200 check was cashed yesterday..... C'mon BABY!
Day 54: 09/20/2011I called the ATF at 1-800-Wheresmycan and talked to Mary (Nice Lady). It's not in the system yet, but based upon my check cashing day, it should be in the system in about a week and to call back then. Still, not fully sure what all that means, but at least it gives me a goal for next week.
Day 67: 10/03/2011They told me to call back in a week, I gave them 2. Talked to Robin this time. My serial # is STILL not in process... So no news is still bad news here.. All I hope is that it is ready and approved in time for the Oct WAC show, since Ortwein will be up here anyhow. It will save me a drive to Vancouver....
Day 81: 10/17/2011 BIG UPDATE!!! I called again today and Mary still couldn't find it in the system. It looks like they transposed a # on the form. It was set into process on 8/11/2011. Mary told me that the average time currently is 5 months from in process, so it looks like it may be 2012 until I have my can.... makes Dan sad. I also found out my examiner is, no surprise, Sandra Snook. She is supposedly the slowest examiner, and is assigned to WA state. yea....
Day 125: 11/30/2011 Called today, just for shits-n-giggles and spoke with Robin. Still in process awaiting review.... C'mon Snookie get workin'!
Day 140: 12/15/2011Knowing I should be getting close, called and talked to Angela. Still in process awaiting review. Sigh...
Day 161: 1/5/2012It's the new year!!! Figured it should be my time! Called up and guess what! Still pending. M'fer.. 161 days so far... 22 more days and I'll be half a year!...
Day 161: 1/19/2012Called today and asked to speak with my examiner, Sandy Snook. I had a bad feeling that the serial number issue was holding back my approval. Well, it was. Sandy had been trying (unsuccessfully) to get a hold of C3 for serial # verification. When I called her, she asked for me to get a hold of Ortwein (my SOT) for a picture of the serial # to prove it was an "I" and not a "1". I emailed Ortwein and he said he would handle it when he got home.
Day 176: 1/20/2012ATF Called me.. But with no power on at the house and minimal cell service I couldn't hear them. I can only assume it was about the suppressor... And it was. It was APPROVED!!!!
Day 179: 1/23/2012I called Sandy, since we couldn't connect on Friday and she told me what I reported above. The stamp is on it's way back to Ortwein now, so I should be able to go get my C3 this weekend!!!! All in all, it took 176 days from mailing to approval. I am sure that the time would have been shortened by having the serial # issue not happen. I will update this when I pick it up from Andrew with a full range report!!!
