Leave it to the ATF to make a rule that itself does not fully understand.

The suggestion that fingerprints and photographs must accompany every Form 1 or Form 4 submitted by a trust or other legal entity has far-reaching consequences. All the tax dollars spent on establishing a system to permit the electronic filing of a Form 1 and Form 4 will have been wasted as e-Forms were limited to situations where there were no accompanying fingerprints and photographs, and now zero applicants would qualify for use of the system. Further tax dollars spent to develop the second version of e-Forms will also have been wasted. Without reconsideration of its interpretation, e-Forms will be completely unavailable for applications involving consumers.

Government waste on full display yet again.

Except they forgot that theres other forms besides Form 1 and Form 4 used by efile. And that dealers should still be able to use it for things like dealer to dealer transfers. For consumers...yeah efile in its current state isnt usable by consumers

Theres also the chance it gets an update to be able to accept photos and fingerprints....which would be rather simple as they would just be attachments.

So. voting is a right, a personal right, a right that can't be taxed.

Owning a firearm is also a personal right, that, not only are they taxing, excessively, but require a background check, fingerprints, and photos??

What the fuck?

How can ANY of this even be legal?

DO I need to submit photos and fingerprints before I speak in public, or buy a megaphone?

I can vote, without an ID, without fingerprints, and without a photo, damn near everywhere, and change the direction this country goes, but I can't buy a gun... WTF.

Don't think so. Fingerprints are always required in original on a special form. You can't photocopy them or take scans.

So my guess is that you will have to go to the courthouse or local PD/Sheriff and pay for multiple copies (it is usually $15-25 for first set and $5 for additional) for as many applications you are thinking of filing.

The electronic form 3s, the tax free transfers generally used for dealer to dealer transactions are on hold until a new company can write the software that isn't junk. The ATF wanted to release it as SHOT, but they didn't like it, and the industry that tested it didn't like it. So back to the drawing board. I'd ask how the programmers could screw it up so badly, but then look at the Obamacare website.

Electronic fingerprints have been around for years. They print out, but the technology is there and being able to send them electronically is just a simple evolution. And the ATF is actually pretty good about using technology. They allow us to virtually verify address changes on licenses, and we can accept emailed copies of military orders to verify residency. Especially as this is a tax collecting... read that as a money making... scheme I can see the NFA Branch trying to push for this pretty hard. I'm already convinced that they are the ones that got 41P changed into 41F... that the idea of lost revenue, and for them a lot of lost jobs, made them push for some changes. The final form will likely get them even more. Likely the only branch of homeland security that brings in any money at all.

And the draft versions of the new Form 1 and Form 4 are out as well as a new one. A questionaire for every responsible person on the trust.

Or not.

The ruling allows NFA items to be tracked a lot easier...without corporations and trusts to worry about...they'll have a social..fingerprints..and a pic...of everyone who has an NFA item.

Registration leads to confiscation. Remember that.

Shit...back in the 80s....even Red Dawn picked up on that ..

So under protest it's better off to not buy what they're trying to keep you from buying?

Makes perfect sense.

It's against CoC to suggest or discuss 'illegal' behavior. So let's just let sleeping dogs lie.

I'm getting off topic, my apologies.

I would suggest anyone doing the trust route to submit a couple form 1s with whatever they wanna build in the next couple years.... there is not time limit..technically..from when a form 1 is approved and when the SBR or suppressor is 'manufactured'..

Just bear in mind that part of the Form1 requires the serial number off the item. For a Form1 can no big deal as they are raw materials and you make the serial number tyipcally. But unless you are doing a form1 sbr with a 80% (non serialized) lower then you will need said serialized lower in your possession to provide the original Mfg serial number to put on your Form1 submission. So while you may not make it a SBR for years, you are locked to a given reciever. You can't just get a blank form 1 approval and use it for an AK, AR, Scorpion, or whatever you feel like 3 years down the road..

i have a standard RUC lower that is a rifle right now. I see that Form 1s are allowed again in about a week. I already have a trust setup. I've just read all this BS going back a few pages. can I keep the lower I have on hand and make it an SBR once a stamp comes through for it?

This shit is why I waited years for NFA stuff and have only done 2 in my life. figure everyone could use a single SBR and 1 suppressor in each standard caliber.

Jon, if your Form 1 efile then yes, you keep using your lower as normal. Once the stamp comes in, get the lower engraved and slap a shorty upper on it.

once you get the efile program down they can become a bit of a habit...
