Anyone can drill holes in metal cups and stack them inside a pipe, but whether those holes are all concentric to the bore depends upon the tools available at your disposal and your skill in using them. I found it hard in that all I had was a cheap drill press, so not all of my baffle holes are perfectly concentric to the bore. Another thing I found frustrating was drilling through the titanium end cap; I ruined a couple drill bits trying. My total investment in it (including tax stamp, engraving, and cerakote) is $570. I could have bought a commercially-made can for 30-40% more money that would have been better machined, lighter, had more features, and rated for a variety of uses. I feel like what I ended up with was not worth the money or the work involved. YMMV, but I think I'd rather go commercial from here on out. The wait time does suck, though.

Thanks for sharing the experience. I was kicking around doing a form 1 can because the efile wait time is a matter of weeks. But maybe I’ll suck it up and do a form 4.

Good summary, it mirrors my experience and thoughts.

Why not do best of both worlds. Get a titanium tube, form 1 it, drill the end with a carbide tip drill bit and lots of cutting fluid. Fill it with Brillo pads and pay a SOT to recore it. Works out to less than a commercial can but it’s done professionally. Doesn’t have the warranty that comes with commercial but you get it back so fast and they’re good cans. I emailed http://curtistactical.com/index.html to ask for prices (they have good reviews online) and they replied with: “For standard suppressors it starts at $275 for a basic 22 ss k baffle up to $875 for a full centerfire recore with new caps and a brake. Most general recores fall in the middle.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice to see something working properly!
