I've got my rimfire and rifle suppressors ordered, now it's time to look for a pistol caliber suppressor.
-Main question: I mostly shoot 9mm, but should I get a .45cal suppressor just in case? Or should I get a dedicated 9mm suppressor? How much louder is a .45cal suppressor shooting 9mm vs. a dedicated 9mm suppressor?
-Do pistol suppressors get dirty and require regular cleaning? Should I get a user serviceable suppressor?
-Should I be looking at titanium suppressors or other lightweight materials? It seems like lighter weight is important for pistols.
-What is common thread pitch for a .45cal suppressor?
-How much do boosters usually cost?
-What brands of pistol suppressors do you guys like?
-Seen any great deals lately?

Most .45 threaded barrels are .578x28.
My first pistol can was a Silencerco Octane 45. I've generally been really happy with it, no complaints, even when using on 9mm. After a while, though, I started liking shooting suppressed pistols less and less . . . because of the giant weight on the end of the barrel. It just doesn't get me as excited as using .22 or rifle suppressors.
Then I found the Silencerco Omega 9K, and bought that. The much smaller size makes it MUCH more attractive to me, and from now on I'll generally use the smaller suppressor even if it suppresses a bit less (I'm not sure if it actually does, though).
So based on my experience, I'd say go with a smaller/lighter can. I wouldn't hesitate to go with .45.

I’m a little different than Madpick. I like shooting pistols suppressed, but where I really like my pistol can is my AR9mm pistol with 5” barrel. It’s accurate as heck and very fun to shoot.

It's the regular old traditional "pistols" that I'm less enthusiastic about.

You don't lose much when using a 45 suppressor on a 9. If you know you won't get a threaded 45 anytime soon, then a 9 mm can will be fine

I know I’m tired from being on call the last week, but I’m pretty sure mine started with I like shooting pistols with suppressors (you don’t care for the weight on standard pistols- new shorter suppressor is better ), butttttt they really shine on Pistol caliber carbines.

That's why I really like my Rugged Obsidian, in .45. Can be converted into a shorter can if the weight bothers you, with just a small reduction in noise levels. Get a piston for 9mm, plus an endcap, and you have it for use on two calibers.

Maybe the obsidian would be a good choice for my pistol caliber suppressor.

Looks like the obsidian 45 is $654 at silencer shop and includes your choice of piston. Hmm... that's pretty tempting.

That’s a nice price for a good suppressor.
My octane 9 & 45 are great suppressors, but it’s hard to beat the newer suppressors and they are cheaper.

Haven't done much comparison to others, no opportunities have presented themselves, but I'm very pleased with the Obsidian. It can use Silencerco piston and direct thread adapters which are readily available. They do get dirty. Mine is going to be a chore to take apart and clean because I have put the cleaning off too long.
