A short video from tonights IDPA match at West Coast Armory in Bellevue.

Only two stages run, one with the lights on, one with the lights off. Can't see much on video with the lights off but its fun shooting in the dark!! 8-)

:D

You must reload, right? Because I will admit, I am just a little envious of your trigger time.

LOL, actually I don't reload!! But I've been planning to start for a while now.

I HAD a big stash of 9mm. I used to buy a few boxes here and there, did that for a few years. These last few months I've been using that stash up and I can see myself shooting less this fall and winter.

At my current shooting schedule I shoot about 700-800 rounds a month. Thats shooting about 8 matches a month. I've been shooting matches every Tuesday night at West Coat Armory, 1st Saturday of the month at Norpoint, the 2nd Saturday at FAS, the 3rd Saturday at Renton Fish & Game, the 4th Saturday/Sunday at Paul Bunyan. These last few months all I've been shooting are matches. I haven't gone to the range to just "practice" for a while now (I really should though, LOL).

IDPA rules limits each stage to a total of 18 rounds scored. A lot of stages at the matches are a lot less then 18 rounds. You can figure about how many rounds you will need for a match by multiplying the number of stages by 18. I usually bring about 50 rounds more then I should need, sometimes you have to re-shoot a stage and a lot of times you shoot more then the required minimum to make up for bad shots.

The matches at West Coast are only two stages, so its less then 50 rounds I use there. The Norpoint matches are 2-4 stages, so its less then 100 rounds there. The bigger matches at FAS, Renton and Paul Bunyan are, at the most, 8 stages so min of 150 rounds there.

When I go to the range for practice, I can easily burn through 300+ rounds doing various drills. So while I am out shooting a lot of times, I'm not really shooting a lot of ammo each of those times. Hope that makes sense. LOL :D

PS: Thinking about it, I guess one big reason I'm shooting so often is because I'm going through one of those very challenging life changes right now, the kind of things that happen in your life every now and then that you don't want to happen and don't think about until it happens.

Shooting as often as I'm doing right now helps take my mind off things for a little while forcing me to focus on my shooting and competing. Shooting is good therapy for me, it keeps me from thinking and dwelling on other things I don't want think and dwell on too much... Again I hope that makes sense. :D

I hear ya brother. Shooting is a great way to get your mind/body/soul off of life in general and just shoot. Sometimes the best shooting comes when you need to express your feelings towards that piece of cardboard with copious amounts of lead.
