If:
a. you're required to put two holes in each Bad Guy to complete a stage, and
b. if a round pierces both the Hostage and Bad Guy, both holes are scored, and
c. if the pic below shows how hits would be scored, and
d. if your average time per shot in a stage is less than 1/2 second per shot, the positive values are doubled for that stage (negative values are not changed by time per shot),
how would this scoring system change your shooting strategy?

Seems more like the rewards/penalties received in real life to me . . . .

In the simple Example below, the shooter's time was over 1 second (i.e., more than an average of 1/2 second per shot), so his time didn't double his 15 positive points. Bullet holes shown are not to scale (they are oversized to make them easy to find).

My footing is too unsure to safely compete in move'n'shoot competitions.

From watching shooter POV videos, though, it seems that some are more willing than others to let the hostage take a few if it lowers their elapsed time.

In real life, that could lead to jail time.

That's all I meant by strategy - reordering priorities for a more real-life experience.

I don't think it would work in practice.

There isn't a game out there where shooting a no-shoot in exchange for time (or accepting the risk of hitting it) makes sense at all. Most of your time on a stage comes from movement, not shooting.

Games with excessively punitive penalties tend to be boring and anti-competitive anyway.

Was joke, comrade. Agree that in all competitions I know the no shoit penalty is already over balancing any perceived time advantage.
