Shooters and Non-shooters got together to cleanup the Stimson Creek Target Shooting site in the Tahuya State Forest!

Here's the info on the Tahuya SF cleanup event. Lots of pics!

The 'Gist' of this message, is to Do What You Can to Save Our Places To Shoot! Even if it's 2 to 6 folks enjoying a day of target shooting, be sure to do a good cleanup when done. And communicate to the new people that there are rules that we need to adhere to, otherwise we may loose another place to shoot.

Details of this cleanup are on the Trash No Land website 'Blog':

Hey, it's the Caveman!

Bill, thanks for your tireless work to organize these cleanups. These are much more than "just" cleanups . . . in my mind, here's what each of them accomplishes:

1) Obviously, the area gets cleaned.
2) Once the area is clean, it's more likely to remain clean for a longer time. People are willing to trash a dirty area, not so much a clean area.
3) Everyone who participates becomes an ambassador, not only doing the right thing when they go out into the wilderness, but also setting an example for others.
4) And as you point out on your website, everyone can do mini-cleanups when they are out in the wilderness and make a difference, and participants will often do that.

So, yesterday wasn't "just a cleanup" -- it was an event that will continue to have a positive impact for years to come.

Well done, everyone.

That time of year has come again. HOT AND DRY conditions in the forest!

Being responsible owners of public lands, it is time to change up your game plan and prepare for FIRE PREVENTION.

Target shooting can and does start fires under certain conditions. Be aware of what situations can start fires and how to avoid them. Make a good choice of a place to shoot, avoiding dry grass & brush, not shooting into downed logs/stumps/trees, and choosing only a high dirt earthen berm backstop. And ALWAYS TAKE YOUR FIRE PREVENTION GEAR!!!

Or, perhaps you decide you don't really need to shoot in extreme fire danger conditions.

Have fun,
Be safe,
Start No Fires, and
Trash No Land!

This last week, I finished up my 2 year commitment to the WA RCO on the advisory committee for Firearms and Archery Range Recreation program (FARR).

Several nice projects coming up this year, including a couple dispersed shooting improvements on WDFW lands and several existing range upgrades.

The final wrap will be Feb 23rd when we meet to hear the results. I'm hoping all will be approved!

Here's more info on the RCO FARR advisory committee:

Yes, I wanted to chime in and say Hey, but I didn't have any questions about your project. I sent a private message in chats, but you may not have seen it. I really liked everything you guys are doing there!

I did notice the logo you had displayed as your avatar, displayed backwards. Might flip it over for your next Zoom.

Have fun with the upgrades!

Bill
