I took Mason up to the 435th Ave pit this morning and meet a friend up there at 9:30
We stayed up there unlike 2pm.
Mason got a few hours of good shooting in. My friend brought two shotguns, a box of clay pigeons and a bunch of 12 gauge shotgun shells and they shot some clay pigeons while I operated the trap thrower.
The Whitehorse Mountain was a nice sight today with no clouds.

We had both pits to ourselves, picked up all the shotgun hulls from the lower pit. Theresa's a five gallonbucket Anda three gallon bucket of them.

We will hit the top pit next time if it is empty

I'm thinking of organizing another 435th Ave Pit clean up. I'll make a new thread on that.

My buddy Bill reloads as well, he likes going up to the Darrington pit, he lives in Sedro-Wooley.

We have been going up to the pit every weekend. We camped up there a couple of weeks ago and will be camping again next weekend.

I am organizing another pit clean up for the 435th Ave pit on August 20th at 8am is anyone is interested in helping out. It won't take long to do a total clean up.
There is a little pull off that has some trash that heads to be picked up. Last summer I took a half tone of trash from that spot.
There will be food and beverages provided at the clean up.

I have been taking Mason out shooting but have been writing about it. Last weekend we did the pit clean up at the lower pit on 435th Ave.
Six guys and one guy brought his younger son along.

We picked up right about a ton of trash.
Then it was BBQ time and then shooting time.
Mason started shooting clay pigeons a few weeks ago and has been doing good.

I took Mason out shooting this morning for the day he shot the 22lr Ruger 10 inch Mark 2, a Rossi 271 - 357 magnum and the 12 gauge pump.
He also got to ride his mini bike.
The lower pit had a porcelain lamp some one took up there to shoot and a computer.
We picked up that trash and some other trash.
It sure was a full day.

Another great weekend up at the lower pit. We went up there early Sunday morning, we camped out Sunday night and got back to the pit early Monday morning.

Mason is doing great hitting the clay pigeons. I will have to pick up more shotgun ammo before next weekend.
Walmart $39 for four boxes.
We got to meet some new people this weekend. Next weekend a couple will be coming up to the pit Saturday and will be camping with us Saturday night.

I've need to get doing some reloading this week for next weekend.
Mason wants to shoot the M1 Garand.

Last fall we did a few more trips up to the pits before we went hunting back in New York.

This spring we went a couple of times already.
We were going to go to the 435th Ave pit but there was snow so we went over to the small pit on the Suaittle River Road.
No snow there.
Mason did some shooting and I picked up some trash.
A friend wanted to do some shooting and I met him at the small pit on the Suaittle River Road on a Thursday. He shot for four hours. I picked up 27 gallons of spent shotgun hulls.
The tweekers picked up all the brass. I did find three 223 cases and one 9mm case.
I did find three old loaded 12 gauge shotgun shells to add to my loaded range ammo collection.

Thanks, Pat! Good work! Wow, that's a lot of hulls!

I got one you might like to attend... June 4th in Sultan Basin area, down South of you. I'm teaming up with WA Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and the Armed Forces Initiative groups again for this cleanup. I'll be posting about it as soon as we get the details worked out.

Hope I can attend another one of your cleanups! You're doing a great work! Thanks!

Bill

A new year right. Good to see you guys gettin after it.

I was up at the Lytle pit Sunday afternoon, picked up a lot of brass and waiting for the main pit to clear I filled up a large trash bag.
One of the guys from the group I was waiting to leave came over and we talked a while, he’s active duty military at JBLM. He saw me picking up shotgun hulls and trash an started to do the same where they were shooting.
I gave him a Trashnoland.org brochure and he was quite interested in getting involved, we shall see.

Nice, Jim. That military guy should connect with the WA Armed Forces Initiative. They are a group formed from WA Backcounty Hunters & Anglers. https://www.backcountryhunters.org/armed_forces They have some great programs to help military folks get involved with hunting & fishing.

See you this summer!

Bill

I’ve seen that group up there before but never had any interaction with him, hopefully I’ll see him again and I will mention the link you provided.
I’m hoping to be more active this year but will be busy downsizing this year.

Bill I will mark it down on the calendar.
I've never been to that pit. Do you have directions to that pit?

I took Mason I up to the 435th Ave pit yesterday afternoon.
The pit on 435th Ave still looks good. The gates have been open. The DNR fixed one bad section of the road and they fixed that big washout right at the pit.
There was only one small bucket of shotgun hulls at the top pit.
I'll get going on the lower pit when we can get there before it gets taken..
The two pits on the Suaittle River Road need another clean up again. I'll get with the DNR and get the ball rolling on clean up date and line up a dump trailer again..
When would you be available to make it up for that clean up?
I'm thinking mid June to mid July.
I'll start selling more brass for dump funds.
I went to the small pit a week ago and it has a lot of trash again
A lot of it can be burned up.
Once we get the date settled I'll get it in to motion on the forums and get flyers made up for the event.
I'll be camping at the river again were we camped at the last pit clean up.
I did pick up twenty-seven gallons of spent shotgun hulls at the small pit and there is a lot more there to be picked up.
I did find three loaded 12 gauge shotgun shells for my range ammo collection.

Jim
Are you picking up much brass?
The tweekers are cleaning every piece of brass on the ground.
Last week at the small pit on the Suaittle River Road I found three 223 cases and one 9mm case not one single 22lr case.
Yesterday at the upper pit on 435th a there wasn't even one 22lr case.

Will you be able to make it to the Sultan clean up?
I am planning on attending that clean up.

I'd love to acquire the brass from the New Years Day Shoot.
I'm off work until mid April so I will get a bunch of ammo loaded up for Mason.
