https://www.dnr.wa.gov/targetshootingTahuya State Forest: DNR has identified two alternative target shooting areas: USFS 2480 Rd (a); 47.572702, -123.082293 USFS 2480 Rd (b); 47.539307, -123.096457 Curious - Anybody been there? Any photos of the place? Thanks!

I haven't been there but have heard that shooters who live closer to Tahuya do not want to drive all that way to West of Eldon. I think it would be great to do some dispersed shooting lane improvements there for those who live on that side, but still I think some improvements could, and should, be done in the Tahuya.
I understand those locations, West of Eldon, are actually on State Land, even though they are on Federal forest roads.
Take a day trip and find out! Always nice to cruise a forest road and do some shooting site hunting!

I drove up to USFS 2480 Rd (a); 47.572702, -123.082293 today to check it out. It seems like a good place, but i didn't spent a lot of time looking as there were some guys shooting there and I did not want to bug them.

By the look of that place on Google Earth, it has some potential for a good improvement (spin around and swoop down to get a good idea of the landscape). I see they are currently are using one lane, yet it could be expanded to the hillside just left of that lane. I see a parking area, a nice wide firing line, a good sized pistol range, a longer wide rifle range perhaps some permanent steel targets embedded in the far hillside... hmmm... For now, I hope it stays clean and presentable. If DNR wants to do improvements out here, it could turn out to be a good thing!

CLEANUP TAHUYA STATE FOREST JUNE 25TH! This is at the site that has still been open to target shooting... NE Belfair Tahuya Rd & NE Elfandahl Pass Rd. Typically referred to as the Stimpson Creek Shooting Site. The cleanup was inspired by a local shooter and long time advocate for adding shooting lanes in the Tahuya, Shane M, (not sure if he's on this forum), who runs a Facebook Group called "Target Shooting on DNR Land in Mason/Kitsap Counties". DNR is onboard with this and providing a dumpster and disposal cost. I'm putting up the free lunch, and we're getting donations from gun & outdoor stores for the free raffle prizes. Posted to the 'Other Events' section" https://www.waguns.org/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=133246Questions can be posted here, or email to me, Bill Cogley, at: bill@trashnoland.org. Come help save our places to shoot!

I’m in Kitsap and probably should just drive out and find out.

The path is not too bad, but no fun to walk it with a bum foot. However, you could ride in the truck that is hauling the trash out. We have an okay to take in 1 vehicle. Now if you're good at grilling burgers and dogs, I could use some help on the grill! I should also add, you could ride with a crew that goes up to other areas and help there. Some of it is getting the trash along the roadway and there are a couple dump spots nearby. Bill
