I was hoping to hear too. I've never been there (Spur 250 pit) but hope to learn more about it and even see some pics.
If it's up there in elevation, it could still be snowed in. Also, being further out, it's probably not used that much, which means it may well be worth the drive (at least Google Earth makes it look good).

Any updates on these pits? I'm from Tacoma and am looking for somewhere to take my mom shooting. She is not experienced at all with guns so I'd like to find a spot without many(or any) other people. (If I'm remembering right) I was here before with my dad and we just kept going up the hill until we found a spot that other people weren't already at, i was a bit disappointed with such short ranges though... unless I'm thinking of somewhere else. Any updates or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to WaGuns! Your description of driving up the hills and short-range areas sounds a lot like Greenwater.

Greenwater pit is the very last place that I would take my beloved ones to, right after Shitatele. Too many trigger-happy idiots there with no knowledge of gun safety at all.

Couldn't say it better with the amount of absolute IDIOCY seen nearly 2 years ago with substance-using, muzzle-sweeping half-assed podunk-bullshit and my 6 year old daughter won't shut up about it. Good thing too because I would like to train someone who knows the difference in making a range experience an awesome one or a f***Ed up waste of gas and time. I don't wish to denounce this place for the range but rather the people that made it unsafe when it just takes a little bit of common sense.

Anyone been up here lately? How high is the snow? I’m needing to do some long distance shooting!

Pit is open and almost no snow. Only on side of the road here and there. There is a sign at the pit saying it is in danger of shutting down due to garbages left behind.

I usually go a lot further up, beyond all the trash. That sign has been up for awhile, they change it out every so often, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it does get shut down.

Shut it down and we'll see more idiots moving further up with more abilities to really fuck things up. Only way to stop the trash shooters, is to gate it at 410. Since that's not going to happen, leave the pit open, regardless of trash, so they don't drive further up into the wilderness and further destroy that too.

I agree, but even some of the idiots don't want to shoot with the pit idiots. They are already further up.

Who would want to be a part of that douchebagery when people on the regular, MUZZLESWEEP on a Live Hot firing line? I'd be one to go up further to stay away from that. At least I could find some decent people who wanna shoot and not be a dumbass about safety. There's not much of a signal out there, calling 911 isn't gonna happen.
