My nephew wants to go shooting, but wants to shoot our air rifles before live ammo. I have a range that I frequent, although he has expressed interest in something a bit more low key for his first go. Any suggestions? Are there any public ranges on or near JBLM?

He lives in Tacoma, but we are willing to drive about an hour from here. The Triangle Pit is a bit intense for his first time out, and if we had a back yard, I would be all over that. But alas, here we are.

Thank you!

You don’t neeed to got to a shooting range to shoot air guns.
If you know of any people who live outside the city of Tacoma. With a little bit of property you can shoot in the yard.
20 yards is sufficient. Just remember to treat that air gun like a real gun. Pellets will go through fence boards. So you need a good backstop.
Or go find some public land and a bit of privacy. Bring a shooting bench or some sort of tripod.
I shoot out my living room window

I made a cradle that mounts to a camera tripod so that’s what I use for a rest. This is not the best photo but you’ll get the concept.

Evergreen Sportsmen's Club (just down the road from Triangle Pit) allows BB/Pellet. If you want to come try it, we can set you up on part of our un-used trap field so you won't be inundated with live fire.
