Hey everyone. I just registered for an account and I am looking to find a good spot to go shooting near the Yelm/Rainier area. There was a spot I went to off of Johnson Creek Rd but they are now excavating it and you can no longer shoot there. Does anyone mind contributing to my knowledge of good areas? I know of Capitol Forest but would like to find something a little closer. Thanks for the help guys.

At the top of the page, there's a gray box labeled "Maps shooting areas."
Welcome to the forum.
Enjoy.

Enjoy. I know of this places but i know people know of spots that are not on there. Don't take offense, but it's a difficult climate to get some to open up to others a good place to shoot. With too many people finding out a new area, it shortly becomes a trashed and gets burmed and shut down. Your best bet, is to explore for a great spot, then keep it a secret to all but your closest and trustworthy friends. There's many of people on here that have a secret spot, you can't blame them for keeping it a secret, and keeping their mouth shut. Someone spilling good information, eventually leaves that person with a trashed area, unable to use it when wanted and regret.

I mean what kind of asshole takes the time to explore the world about him, find really cool secret spots to shoot without having to deal with various noobs showing up and trashing the place and doing all kinds of dumbshit, and then not share said locations with random dudes on the internet? I'm mean, really, people can be such pricks at times...

RedDon, I use google earth, find forest roads and try them out. As long as you know the laws for target shooting you should be safe. Just a quick look, there looks like a few places off of fort lewis road that would be good to start. 48.358185, -121.520802. Good luck

Does anyone know if the spot on the west side of Capitol is still open, off Little Spur Road, Site #7 or on the map I think it's called C0061. Been there a bunch of times and it's always been good, but I see DNR has a number of spots closed. Doesn't look like this one is, but would be thrilled to hear if anyone else has had recent success.
Thanx
