Am I missing something? A lot of Colt purists hate the roll mark on these models from the 1990s.

I always wanted one. Saw a add to buy a kit with the bolt missing. You could also buy the bolts de-milled and supposedly you could put them back together. Really nice rifle. Hope that you are able to finish it some day.

What a task cleaning it up is proving to be!

Awesome composition! Looks like it was dropped from a retreating Ruskie in a village from the Eastern front!

Okay, well, it was a historical stretch. But if commanding officers didn't have rifles pointed at Russian troops, it would have been a lot more retreating by Communists!

The price was too good to pass up even though this is a "gunsmithed" 1914 Savage 1899H 22 HP. This is my 7th Savage 1899/99. The barrel was cut down to 19" somewhere along the line( someone prolly mucked up the original sight) and Not-Original-To-Rifle front sight added. The fore stock matched the serial numbers though. Very clean bore, sharp lands and grooves, nice Take Down. I took it to the range to get it on paper at 25 yards with the Peep. First two shots were bulls! Moved out to 50 yards. 1st group, then adjusted the sights, 2nd group. It is a very accurate shooter for these old eyes! I absolutely love those perch belly stocks. Sexy! :) All photos here--> https://sportsdad60.smugmug.com/New-22HP/
