I set out to build a lightweight AR. I wanted 7lbs .... that was doable but turns out not with the parts I wanted. However I was able to come close, came in at just under 8 with no optic or suppressor of corse. Build started out as a barrel!! I’ve chimed in a few times on the boards and I’ll do it again. DRACOS DRACOS DRACOS. Can’t say enough about the amazing product these guys make , sub MOA , lightweight,no point of impact shift with or without suppressor, and shoots moa on first 3 shots or last 3 after a few mag dumps!!!!! Check em out!! So, I finally bought the barrel and the project began. After much research and opinions from most of you guys this is what I ended up with.
Ascend Armory upper&lower matched set DRACOS .308 18” 1/10.5 barrel CMC single stage lightweight trigger Battle arms development ambi lightweight Saftey Trigger pins/takedown pins/ambi bolt catch all lightweight and Ascend Armory JP silent capture buffer Raptor charging handle Ergo grip XLR stock (this was where I went over my 7lb mark) V seVen hyper light 16.5” m-lock
Extras: Leupold mark4 8.5-25x50 ER/T front focal Warne one piece mount SilencerCo Omega can
Shot it once so far just to zero, got groups down to just under 3/4in. With factory ammo. I’ll get it down to 1/2in no problem with my hand loads!! Can’t wait...... and now....for the gun porn. Sorry for the bad pics, I tried lol

That is completely off the charts bad ass!! Nicely done sir!
If you don't mind my asking, how far over the 7# mark did the stock put you? Whatever it was, I'd say it was worth it.

A .308 weighing just as much as most ar15s these days.... Damn and those parts are $$$$, barrel alone is more than my rent.
Shit looks badass dude.

The scale i used does not do ounces , so hard to tell exactly but by my math I’m thinking the stock put me over almost 3/4lb....about 12oz. BlDtyLry wrote: Which BCG did you go with? This was one of the really hard decisions I had to make because there was so many different options between functionality ,weight ,and price ! But I ended up with the Lantac NiB coated ( mostly because I run them in all my other rifles and I love them so far ).

For large frame BCG's , this is what I have and have weighed. Alll weights are complete BCG.
RCA Ti w/ adjustable gas key = 12.40oz JP LMOS polished = 14.50oz. Young Manufacturing NM = 18.15oz Aero Precision Nitride = 17.85oz
Lantac says their 308 Nitride and NiB BCGs are 18.1oz.
I went with the RCA but not for the weight but for the adjustable gas key. Also running a Dracos 22" 6mm CM.
BTW - great looking build.
