For years people at work or in my personal life learn I’m a “gun nut” and 80% always ask ....”do you have a Desert Eagle?” Or a “machine gun”..... so after much deliberation and realization that I have no use for one. I was kind of the same way for a long time. I didn't see the point, I didn't think they were that cool, they're too expensive, ammo ammo ammo yadda yadda yadda.

But about a year ago I finally got the bug, and I bought one too. Of course in 50AE, what's the point if it's not? And yeah, I've really had a good time using it as a conversation piece for folks that want to try shooting it. It will probably never be one of my regular guns on the range rotation, but once in a while it's a hell of a lot of fun.

Maybe you've seen my .gif . . . but with my reloads and the 6" barrel installed (like yours), mine blows some very nice fire rings!

Deff sore! But it was my first (and I knew likely my last for a while) so I shot whay I had lol.!!! But I could feel it 6pm eating dinner trying to use a fork!!!! Lol

I've been able to reload 50AE fairly cheaply. I bought a bunch of range pickup brass for maybe 16 cents each, if I remember correctly. I bought bullets for 20 cents each; reference this thread: viewtopic.php?f=74&t=80977
Note: They're in stock at the moment, though the price is now at 33 cents each, which is still a really great deal for good bullets like that.

I loaded 727 rounds with 31.5 grains of H110 powder, the 325-grain Speer 4495 JHP bullets that you see in that thread above, and an OAL of 1.59. I don't expect to need to reload again for a while.

By the way, I did try reloading with the 335-grain Rainier plated bullets but I found that they weren't shaped correctly and left a gap between the case mouth and bullet, so they didn't feed well. Other people have used them successfully, so I hear, but for me they just didn't seem right.

Got to shoot a friends 50EA DE and it sure was a hoot. Lots of fun. I do remember that a good portion of the ejected brass bounced off my forehead though. Had to clean a few black marks off my face when I got home. The wife knew where I had been.

Oh and that is one very beautiful specimen you have there! Congrats!

Ron, in case you’re thinking about it , the brass from mine doesn’t go anywhere near the shooter’s head.
