My number came up! All they had left were Service Grade guns. I suspect some of the butthurt reviews I have read are those that ordered one of the two lesser grades of guns. Remington Rand slide and frame with a High Standard barrel. Serial puts it at 1944. Possible (but no way to know) that it shipped in this configuration as RR bought barrels and other small parts from other manufacturers. For a typewriter company they sure did well...they made more 1911s than Colt during the war. The "FJA" frame stamp stands for Col. Frank J. Atwood, the ordnance inspector. Gun had very little wear internally but quite a few nicks and such on the outside. Rear sight is gouged but usable. Box came with a neat certificate with my name on it and one magazine. While these will never have the panache of the documented war bringback guns, to me this is the next best thing. I doubt I'll lose money on this investment! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks super nice. Still not sure if they received my submission, sent it off on the last day and never any confirmation that they received it. |

This is the first CMP 1911 that I've seen. I'm impressed! The Service Grades are $1050 and that includes the box and overnight shipping. You do have to pay state sales tax of course. They are slowly working through the list of folks that got drawn. First guns started to get to people around Christmas. |

I've now seen two samples, and both look fantastic. A friend got one and he is extremely pleased with it. If you have the $~1200, and wanted a piece of 1911 history, these seem like a no-brainer. |

You know, I made an offer once on a nice minty Ithaca Model 37 in the crate. That offer still stands for that 1911. |
