For my whole life I was in strong opposition to off-body carry.
However, due to my L5-S1 troubles I can't carry on my belt now.
So I have decided to try off-body carry and bought Vertx Transit Sling EDC.
Just got it yesterday.
At least it doesn't look tactikewl. :doh1:

Very cool, and a totally legit way to carry. You could also consider getting a ballistic soft panel insert to give you some armor protection.

I recently got a Hill People Gear recon pouch for about $100. It's for hiking, exercise, running, etc. It's fantastic and takes the weight off the hips and distributes to shoulders very evenly.

It's a great on-body option, with similar bag-draw techniques. Highly recommend the product. Smaller and lighter footprint than a larger bag.

+1

Vertx & Camelbak offer some of the best non-tactical CC options out there, that don't look like they are a CC bag.

I've been looking for something like this to increase my options.

I did it once. And just like my regular carry, I completely forgot about it. And then I went to a meeting without dragging my bag along and realized I just left my carry completely unattended and most importantly not on my person. At that point I decided I would never do that again.

But hey, carry in whichever way works for you. More guns the better and if its the only way you can get it there, then its don't the job.

Happened to me twice when I just switched from IWB to Vertx Transit Sling.
You just have to develop new routine.

Hiking sounds like a great use case, since the hips are loaded with gear and the back may have a back pack.

I was hiking east of here and ran into some hogs. They ran off but it took me a while to get ready, this would make it easier.

Goodwill outlet with sometimes have a collection of off body bags for a cheaper price, to include fanny packs. You have to check there often.

I do enjoy hearing how opposed you were and now facing this physical limit are so willing to look at other options.

I used to do a few women’s only shoots and this was a big topic. All the husbands were so against off body carry. But in reality for women it’s such a lifestyle choice.

Everyone has to find what works for them under their own circumstances. To limit is totally mind blowing.

There are options out there and this version of carry is also good for those really small pistol AR folders.

Are we talking about women purses? Is so, then I still strongly oppose carrying guns in those robbers magnets.
Although my wife loves purses, she’s never had one.
I believe that if person has no physical limits then he/she should carry on a body.
In fact, last few months I carried my LCP .380 IWB, as my wrecked back somewhat tolerates it.
But while the violent crimes are on the rise, I switched back to my G19/5 and two spares in my Vertx Transit Sling.

Off body… whatever that means to the person carrying.

Not your definition but I again state that people should carry the way they need to… if you want to strap it on your face sure. Joking.

But as you may know over the course of your lifetime of carrying. You ain’t using the same holster or even gun as you did when you started. If a woman starts off carrying in her purse or man purse. It doesn’t mean it may end there. We all evolve and over time we try different things and different ways to carry. Hell we carry different guns. Different attire. Different settings.

I’m 53 and have been carrying legally since 21. And if you want to talk about carrying a gun at all… since age 13. Duck hunting

I'm looking at other non IWB options, and looking into pocket carry or fanny pack. I think it would be awkward in situations when people ask you why you don't put your backpack down ever.
