Thanks for the welcomes! Nice to be here (officially).
Patience is a virtue I definitely don't possess. I remembered them saying the turnaround was about 3 weeks when the hubs and I applied -- just a few days before you, it sounds like. Once that milestone passed I was like, Where's my shit? I couldn't remember if their mandated permitting time was 30 days or 45, and at the time I wasn't in a place where I could look it up online so I called and verbalized my "where's my shit?" impulse. But, you know, nicely. Sounds like they've been getting even more applications than usual lately (could have something to do with Multnomah County's decision to temporarily turn away WA residents) and things are a bit bogged down. The woman at their office was very helpful and I got the impression she wanted to get through the backlog as much as the applicants wanted to get their permits. Although I'm not sure that's possible, because I REALLY want that permit. Sooooo tired of unloading in Longview...

Passed the 30-day mark last week but still haven't received anything. It's like my mailbox is mocking me.

Just to put it into perspective... remember mine took almost 30 days (applied Sept 14 got it Oct 12th in 2011). Now with the increased applications and backlog due to cuts in staff, reduction in hours, etc... You're not long from getting it. Hang in there... At least you got off your rump and did it.

Right on! Glad yours finally showed up. My husband's came yesterday as well, but mine didn't. They have so many to process that mine won't be here until next week (hopefully). Argh. Guess the happy dance will have to wait a while longer. (Is there a smiley of a 12-year-old girl throwing a tantrum? Because that would really fit right about now... ;) )

Has anyone gotten their permit from Columbia county recently? I'm calling tomorrow for an appointment and was wondering if there were any changes since the last post.

I went with another guy in late September. Took just about a month give or take a day. I think that's prettty standard. With such a high demand I don't think that's too shabby.

Talked to a very pleasant and helpful person this morning and I'm going down a week from Friday (the 17th) for their next "first-come, first-served" day. I'll be sure and report back after. Thanks for everyone who posted good info in the thread for me to find!
