I had a guy in Walmart start in on me once about OC... So I told him to call the police if he thought that was the right thing to do... He did then followed me around while I shopped, then outside when I was done... Met the cop who was a good friend of mine... Cop walked up, shook my hand, gave me a bro-hug and we chatted for about 10min, I left... Idiot turned red... I Cop told him where he could stick it and left... Was pretty funny... He texted me later about how the guy wanted his sergeants number, and he would be filing a complaint with the mayor, police chief and everyone else he could think of... He said "I just told him I enforce the law, not your personal beliefs and phobias..."

I have carried open and concealed at Cabelas in Lacey more times than I can recall. I've had nothing but good experiences there. The last time I was there, just before Christmas, I was open carrying with a jacket covering. Eventually it became to warm to keep wearing the jacket and I took it off. The only reaction from those who did notice was an approving nod or smile. The employees were totally cool too. Sorry you had that experience. I would have gone straight to a supervisor or manager and complained. That employee should have been openly suspended without pay, escorted off the property, then fired. Regardless of the whole carry issue, to speak that way about a customer, to other customers, is unacceptable in any customer service environment.

Hit the nail on the head. Not saying anything or challenging these people give them their power, same as a bully/cool clique in school.. Have to call them on their BS and make them the fool or they will keep getting worse. Especially in a place like Cabela's, seriously, what sort of store/clientele is does that tool think is the primary customer base?

GN worked there for quite a while, I would take his recommendation and at least lodge a complaint after the fact, that situation needs to be corrected. Aside from the BS anti gun attitude the fact he badmouthed a customer openly is very much against Cabela's policy.

I wanted to test a few holsters out for my pistol and since HK P30 holsters are uncommon (knowing this beforehand, I did some research and found that Springfield XD40 holsters will fit), I thought it prudent to try before I buy. The guys at the counter by the front door said I could OC fine, but if I was going to remove my pistol from the holster I had it in, that I needed to do it at the desk and they would escort me. I handed him my pistol and the older guy locked the slide back and inserted an orange flag. Then handed my gun to a kid and sent him off with me. That little shit wouldn't stop playing with my gun and actually pressed the mag release and dropped my magazine out the gun onto the uncarpeted floor. When we got to the holster aisle, he promptly dropped my gun. I grabbed it before he could and he about had a fit. Said I wasn't allowed to have it outside my holster and that he would need it back. I laughed at him, walked through the whole store with MY gun in MY hand, told his partner at the counter to remove the trigger guard and left. Now I buy all my guy gear off the Internet.

I woulda hung around and gotten a gift card for the damage to your gun.

Little known policy.

Regardless of why, if a customer is unhappy to the point of being loud and causing a scene, Cabelas gives them a gift card for $25-$50. It has to be loud enough to cause a scene, but not to the point of anger so that you are removed from the store. Not an easy task, but if you can do it, that's some free money right there.

I'll have to remember that the next time one of the employees looks at me and then walks away without answering the question I just asked them.

Was this in Poulsbo??
Ive been bothered by a guy there, and I ended up telling a walmart rep and they talked to him.
I also met a OCDO guy there who ran up to me and thanked me profusely. He was in awe to find a OCer in Poulsbo.
Carry on.

It's all part of a dastardly planned out scheme to get you to spend more money. Buy gun, fill out forms, be told you'll have about a 2 hour wait and "If you'd like to shop some more we can page you when the approval is back". I wonder how many in this situation go back and shop for a new scope, case, ammo, gadgets, etc?

It's not much different than arriving at a restaurant at 8 PM for your 8 PM reservation only to be told "your table will be ready shortly, would you like to wait in the bar/lounge?" A $200 bar tab later, you are called for your table.

Somehow I think that in time "Consumers" will eventually just start to walk "bent over". We get "bent over" so often by people that sell us crap (or services) that it will just become the evolutionary "Position". :reaction: :reaction:

Cabelas is ALL ABOUT "add on sales"

If you buy a rifle, they want you to also buy a scope, rings, bases, case, ammo, bipod, cleaning kit, sling, scope covers, targets, shooting rest, etc.

That's part of it.

Also, there is a HUGE lack of training, so they have to have 4 different people check each form before the check even starts and then another 1-2 people before the gun leaves the store.

Want a fast in/out buying a gun @ Cabela's? Be there at store open. Don't come in int he afternoon when they are behind due to what GN has told us and expect a fast transaction. I have Been there at open and been out the door 30min later with lead-thrower in hand..

The wife and I spent the majority of the day at the Lacy Cabela's today, both of us OC. There were 7 others that I saw that were OC as well. Not a single comment pro or con re OC. Just the way it should be.
I added a bunch of points to my members club card also.

Cabela's used to be a family owned outfitter with a single store in Sidney, Nebraska and an awesome mail order catalog.

They are now a publicly traded retail giant building huge hunting lodge-esque tourist traps of monolithic proportions loosely modeled after their first store, all around the country, and capitalizing on America's sudden desire to wear camo everything.

Their prices are high, the rhetoric is long, and the stores just ooze this fakeness that I guess is lost on the Cabela family while they sit in their mansions and drink $18,000 scotch.
