If you're in a public place (not a range or LGS, obviously) and your gun -- long gun or handgun -- is IN YOUR HAND, that's a problem. Rifle slung on your back? I have no issue with that, personally.
Fundamentally I have no issue with people with slung rifles on their back. Would I as a gun owner avoid restaurants that allows this? Probably. Not everyone has the same respect for safety in carrying firearms and last I checked there wasn't a good way to stow away a rifle and keep that muzzle safely pointed when sitting a jack in the box or starbucks. At least with ccw or pistol open carry most have them stowed in a holster of some sort.
A big mac doesn't sit so well when I see a muzzle pointed in my direction.
Also don't make private businesses bar us from service just because you have a political agenda. Go sit on the steps of city hall or something.
