Hello, new to the forum here. So today I open carried my S&W SD40VE while I wait for my CPL. Went to Walmart in Lacey, everything was good, just a couple of stares that's it. And you can add Dickey's BBQ to the list of OC friendly restaurants! The cashier said she felt safer knowing an armed and responsible citizen was there. Will definitely go back just because of the 2A friendliness

Been OCing for about five years now. Never an issue in Thurston county. Just remember to unload your gun when you get in the car till you get your CPL. If you live on JBLM, no carry whatsoever. If you have any questions send me a PM, and I will give my number to talk. BTW I live directly behind the Lacey Wal-Mart. Army Retired

Open carry is fun. And pretty much a normal thing anymore. Although downtown Oly will get you some looks and comments from the filth that inhabit it. I got a couple today after I finished having lunch with Chuck.

I started off the same way, in the same area. I don't recall ever having a problem in Oly/Lacey. I did have one curious person come up to me and ask some legal questions. My 1st OC was w/a Ruger P95. Kinda regret selling that one.

I actually was the person who got Oly PD to issue a training bulletin on OC, and to train their officers on it.

At least 50% of the stares you received probably had nothing to do with your OC. I still OC the Lakewood area even though I have my cpl. Most of the sheeple don't even notice. My last OC response came from a lady inside the Ross store. She had been following behind me for a ways when I pulled my cart off to the side to let her pass, since I don't like people in my blind spot. As she walked passed she looked at me and said, "I wasn't following you...but I feel safer around you."

Welcome to the world of OC. Eventually it will become so natural you won't be touching your firearm every few minutes just to see if it's still there. You'll stop walking with your strong side arm bowed out because you are so concious of your fiream on the belt.
It will become so normal that you won't even notice people looking at it (because chances are great that they aren't).
Just be careful because when OC'ing becomes natural, you don't want to forget it when going into the Post Office, Courthouse, Fed Building, or to your kid's Ball Game on school grounds. There are times you WANT to notice it on your belt.
