Was about to get fireworks from the nisqually Indian reservation and thought, can I carry..? I looked it up to be sure and this says no, so, I left it at the house completely. Does it also mean no-go in the car? I read it as you can only carry a weapon when you have a tribal cpl. Am I reading it correctly? Thoughts? http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/trib ... pdf#page34

no guns period... it's a sovereign territory... technically a different country, no different than going into canada
definitely no open carry...
concealed carry or carry on your vehicle is still illegal... that said, I leave my gun in my car the few times I go to the casino...
I don't think they enforce it on the parking lots/cars but they could if they want to

That said yea it's illegal. But so is lots of shit we tend to do regularly considering that some of what they are selling becomes Illegal when it crosses back into US soil (I think they won't care if you have a concealed carry or leave it in your car)... that said it's still illegal and we here on the forum do not advocate doing anything illegal (particularly if you get caught doing it) and don't forget there are no 2nd amendment rights on tribal land..

I don't think they enforce it on the parking lots/cars but they could if they want to Seriously? All that statement and no cite? http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=37.12.010The state of Washington hereby obligates and binds itself to assume criminal and civil jurisdiction over Indians and Indian territory, reservations, country, and lands..... but such assumption of jurisdiction shall not apply to Indians when on their tribal lands or allotted lands within an established Indian reservation Come on man, you're better than that.

I'm now confused... I'll let smarter people fill in the rest then, since I'm out of my league here..

All WA State laws apply on Tribal land to non-tribal people. Tribal Law's can be made to be stricter than RCW's though as well. Most tribal lands do not allow open carry by non-tribal people. Also, most tribal lands will also "recognize" your CPL and allow you to carry on tribal lands if you are passing through.
If you get caught breaking "Tribal Law", then you have to leave the tribal land. If you break WA State Law, then you get arrested, cited etc.
So, basically.. Go do your business at the Rez. Get your fireworks, gas, smokes etc.. Just keep it concealed.

This idea that non-indians can't carry on reservations is pretty inaccurate.
Take some time and look up the various tribal codes and you'll see that a CPL is honored on almost all reservations.
Most tribal codes have just adopted WA State Law (with a whole lot fewer words) to govern their own members.
I carry on the Tulalip Reservation all the time. Just don't go into the casino as that's prohibited under state law. I guess one could make the argument that as long as you're merely going into the restaurant areas where under 21 is allowed you can carry as well but in order to get there you have to pass through the restricted area.
As for open carry? That's going to gain all kinds of attention regardless or where you are although I've open carried in Cabela's which is "in Indian Country" with not a single word.
