Advice needed: Appendix Carry Rigs

Thu Dec 01, 2016 12:39 pm

I'm considering to appendix carry a Glock 19 and I've been seeing good reviews about appendix carry rigs that have the holster and mag carrier in one. Something like a T-Rex Arms Sidecar or OTP elite from M3tactical.

I've never appendix carried before but I like the idea of having an extra mag and not having to remember to grab a separate mag carrier.

Does anyone have something like this? I would appreciate any advice.

I use a super simple Uncle Mike's IWB, and two extra mags in the back pocket. If I feel like conceal carrying, I wear a non-tuck shirt.

My best friend rocks the T-Rex and loves it. He has been carrying aiwb for over a year and still loves. I plan on making my own to try before possibly spending ~$100 on a holster I might hate.

I didn't say that it happens often. :cheers2:

I carry my G19 in this holster, and love it (but it does not have an extra mag carrier):

And its made by Bladetech

Do you use this? It seems like a great concept, but I have read numerous negative reviews. Would love to hear your experience.

There's also the HSP/G-Code INCOG. Though it's meant as an appendix carry iwb holster, I use one for my 226 @ 3 o'clock when not running a light.

I have a few rigs for my Glock 26 and PPS M2. The Glock 26 rig is from tactical.panda.concealment on Instagram. Honestly speaking, the quality isn't quite there but it's comfy. I also have it from Dara holsters. That ones bulky compared to any other rig.

The PPS rig is from https://www.alexandryandesign.com
They do a pretty good job but they only offer rigs for single stacks.

I also have a Sidecar for my LC9, but that doesn't get carried at all just because it's he older LC9.

Out of the handful of rigs I've tried however, the Sidecar is probably the best quality wise.

As for the carry itself, if I'm wearing pants with a belt, I'll just slap one of these rigs on. It's always nice having a spare magazine and ever since then, it's felt odd just having the gun and no magazine.

If you want to try an appendix only holster, find one with a wing or claw, then buy one of these: http://www.snakeeatertactical.com/produ ... ine-pouch/

They're pretty minimal. The only issue I have with those mag pouches is practicing. It's a little tough to get the magazine into the pouch so after you practice your reload, it'll take a minute to stuff the magazine back into the pouch.

I hope any of that information helps!
