Post subject:  Legality of pistols built from 80% lowers used for ccw

So I'm new to this site, forgive me if I don't follow protocols. My question is in relation to the WA state laws on use of an AR pistol built from an 80% lower. (If there are applicable federal statutes, I'm interested) after reviewing WA RCW 91 in its entirety I did not see any prohibitions against the use of these. I know it's a lot of gun, and I don't carry one as such. But having a loaded one in my personal vehicle subjects me to have in my possession a valid CCW permit, otherwise I'd get new bracelets. So does WA have any specific statutes that address 80% lowers, which would require them to have identifiable markings, when used as a CCW? I'd also mention that there are dedicated 80% pistol lowers for the more traditional pistols, Glock etc. which would also be addressed by any supposed statutes, as I'm sure most of you know.

Welcome to WaGuns! :wavey:

Start with an 80% lower. Turn it into a 100% lower. Mark it if you want, don't if you don't. Carry and conceal just like you would any other pistol.

Does anybody actually conceal carry an AR pistol? I mean besides that you can carry it loaded in the car?

I do, if I'm wearing summer clothing and can't conceal my Draco.

I've been accused (wrongly) of having a full sized AR in my pants. She was pleasantly surprised when she was wrong... :thumbsup2:

As to the OP, I'm 3 drinks in. I don't have a clue. But a lower is what, $60... just get a pistol lower, and be done with it. Why spend the time and energy and risk and never know for sure when you can solve the problem with a pistol lower for $60...? Why spin your wheels? Spent the money, and then you have your safe answer and have 2 lowers. Win-win.

The hair would cover anything next to your body.

Except on your head, of course.

This. LE might look a bit surprised if there aren't markings, but nothing illegal about it.
As for actual CC, just make sure you have a loose jacket and you are good. Might consider 10 or 20rnd mags, and a good modular or single point sling is a must. I've never tried it, but I might have to now for shits and grins.

Yeah, if I had too, I'd single point sling it around my neck. I might get it marked, fire control -boring & loads of fun!
