Minimum age for pistol ammo is 21, rifle is 18 as far as stores go.
It is legal to own a pistol at 18 in WA so I wouldn't personally have a problem selling pistol ammo to someone 18+. Just my opinion though.

WHAT IF YOU HAVE A PISTOL CALIBER CARBINE?????????????????????????????????????????
I think we could immediately delete 50% of the laws and regulations and it would not put anyone at any risk and would only reduce income for enforcers, harming no-one.

Some stores will sell it if the customer states its for a rifle at 18. Some stores won't sell any gun stuff to some one under 21 (Fort Lewis PX for one).

When buying pistol cal ammo I’ve frequently been asked at box box stores is it for a rifle or pistol. Same thing every time I buy .22lr at the big box store. Just tell them rifle and move on with your day.
