So I’m at a bar right now, not drinking that says we are prohibited from carrying or possessing of any firearm under RCW 9.41.300 (d).
“This prohibition includes any persons who have a concealed weapons permit.”

Can someone clarify this for me? Am I not allowed to protect myself even if I’m sober grabbbing a bite to eat?

Can I possess or not? I’m from Iowa where we were allowed as long as we didn’t have an intoxication level more than .08.

Concerned law abiding citizen.

You cannot carry, with or without a concealed permit, within a bar or within a portion of a restaurant area reserved for the service of alcohol, even if you are not drinking.

General rule: If people under 21 can't go in, your gun can't either.
At a lot of restaurants it's just the lounge area.
If there is a 21 and over sign on the front door, than no.

Some bars operate as restaurants during certain times and as a tavern during nights.

But instead of asking about bringing in a gun, ask if you can bring kids in.

I've always thought that was a stupid law.
i.e. Azteca bar - carrying not allowed, yet they sell food there.
Azteca restaurant - OK to carry, yet they sell alcohol there.

Some states it's even more convoluted, like if more than 50% of an establishments income is from alcohol or something like that. But yeah, I go with the kids allowed rule.

Indian casino's are posted 'no firearms' at the front door.
But, this only applies to the immediate area around the bars since under 21 are allowed to walk through the casino to go to the restaurants, bathrooms, and such.
Stupid law.

Buddy brought it up to a tribal police officers a few years ago.
Cop finally said "OK, no we can't arrest you for carrying a gun here here but we'll take your picture and you'll never be allowed in here again."

I stopped reading signs. Now I don't have to disagree with signs anymore.

Like your style. Concealed is concealed. I read the ordinance but like everything else, it was fuzzy. Thanks for the clarification and the warm welcome y’all!

Like a US park ranger told my buddy when asked about about carrying a gun in a federal building:
"Well, unless you are waving it around and pointing it at people how are going to know if you are carrying a gun? Not like we have metal detectors"

But it is legal in Oregon.

Real simple rule of thumb, if your under 21 yo kid can come with you (like a liquor store) you can carry. There is a restaurant close to where I live, and before 9pm I can carry, after 9pm it becomes 21+ only (so no carry). There are a few other places you can't carry, but the if you can bring your kid covers about 98%. YMMV.

The responding officer must have been feeling generous or lazy that day.

The reason you have to be 21 to enter a Casino is because the whole building is considered a bar. See RCW 9.41.

If you are a law enforcement officer, we do not ask you to disarm, but we DO ask that you not consume alcohol.

Please do NOT try to enter a Tribal Casino with a firearm unless you are a law enforcement officer with credentials.

Cordially,

Me

(your friendly neighborhood Tribal law enforcement officer)

And may I add...

If you get caught carrying, it can be a gross misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 year in the husgado and a $5000.00 fine. Plus you lose your guns.

Is it worth it?

That's what I always thought...

You can order a drink anywhere, like a bar or lounge, and nobody under 21 is allowed....
