Hmmm... Has anyone tried these? Doesn't really say if it's a set screw or what but it's made for just this application...

I just did this last night. If you only dimple the front you should be good to go and won't mess up the FSB grooves if you want to use it later. One dimple will still hold very tight. I use a jig I bought off Midway.

That just covers the pin slots when you remove a pinned sight tower. I don't know if it is set screw or not. And FUCK STEVE TROY and anything he's involved with.
LaRue Tactical makes something similar and they are not anti-freedom like Troy.

Well got this done, went pretty straight forward with no surprises.
Beating the shit out of the taper pins was even more of a PITA than I remember, but they came out.
Tapped the new gas block into place and aligned it with the gas port. I took out the set screws and ran a drill bit in the holes for about 5 revolutions to get a small dimple in the barrel. Everything went back together we'll and it looks great!
No more annoying A-post in my scope.
Now all I need is a function test and see how far off the scope is from dismounting it.
(Yes I'm still running my RA XTC and yes that is an MS1)
