Nice! I traded Brian a number of years ago for this rifle, put a nice scope on it, and just love shooting it. You should bring yours to the NY Shoot this year and we can go head to head. Maybe we should have a precision shoot round during the day? This year's NY Shoot I'll bet more than two dozen people took a turn with my rifle, it's a hoot to shoot. Here's the photo thread from this year's shoot, you can the Mosin with the custom turned down bolt that Brian made for it. /viewtopic.php?f=142&t=97068

Something is wrong with your group size calculations. If the circles represent .30-caliber bullet holes, then I think you skipped the step of calibrating the size of your target photo.
Those groups are larger than your MOA numbers indicate.
EDIT TO ADD: If your software works the same way that mine does, your red circles should be the same size as the holes in the paper.

That could be. I literaly downloaded the app while walking down range. Very well could have set it wrong. I'll double check it later tonight, but at least you can see the groups, more or less. I need time at a decent range with a bench for sure. lol

Ok, I went back and took new pictures. This time I drew a 1" mark and zoomed the grid to make them 1" squares. That seemed to work. I think... lol, like I said, I'm no sniper...

I'm happy that they are all decent enough to drop a target. I don't plan on lighing someone's cigarette or splitting a playing card. There's definitely a good chance I'm doing all thos wrong still though. lol

not on a bench, rifle made in 1941 that kicks like a mule, milsurp ammo. I think 2-3moa after many rounds downrange is damn fine shooting IMHO.

Thanks. I did some on the fly adjustments that may or may not have helped. I have a habit of working the bolt fast and not taking my time between shots. Now that I have messed with the app some more tonight, I can see that it tells me what I need to do to adjust the scope. I should have paid attention, but I was also out there to do some mushroom hunting and play with the AK.

I appreciate hearing that guys. Again, I'm no precision shooter. Very much just rough it in and throw some rounds kind of guy. The target was 325' down range acording to my phone's GPS, but that's farthest I can do in my area.

Agreed, that's good shooting. I just downloaded that app (SubMOA) and I'm playing with it. It's nice to have something on the phone that you can use on the fly, rather than software on the computer at home!

This one is called RangeBuddy. Seems super simple. (Which is why I was able to screw it up right away, lol) but I'm not sure if it stores stats for multiple guns or range trips.

SubMOA clearly looks just like your screen shots. Maybe they're the same thing, different names? I'm on an iPhone; are you on Android?
