Nope, slide came that way. Was part of the reason that I felt it deserved wood grips. They call it the stainless model, but it's very magnetic, so it might just be a silver finish of some sort.

Finished the other side, they feel a bit slick, after a trip to the range we'll see if I need to learn how to do checkering

Then to decide what sort of finish to put on them.

That slide does look like it is coated somehow. However, fwiw, stainless steel can be magnetic.

Delliot, I see you're running that on a drill press. What's your thoughts on the way attachment? Have never used one, but thought about picking one up for some small home projects.

In general I like it, but my drill press was never really designed to work as a mill, so it really doesn't like it when you take big bites. The bearings weren't designed for a lateral load, so it's not really surprising. The X-Y axis is nice, and it'd be even better with a Z stage, but the price for that jumps very quickly. This particular stage is a bit sloppy (something we had to allow for when working on Brian's grips), but the gibs are adjustable, I have taken it apart once to clean out all the tracks & lube the mating surfaces, but I might take it apart & add UHMW tape to them so I can tighten up the action to remove a bunch of the slop.
