What happens if you refuse to take possession of the firearm? It's not their property, does it have to be sent back to the seller?

They can charge what they like, but it's a dick move to require pre-shipping confirmation. Sometimes gun deals online go very quickly and not during business hours. And if you can't state your price match online, then that's a problem with the way you do business, not the customer. How was it a customer was able to find a deal across the country, know that you're an ffl, but you failed to present them with a better deal?

Yeah... I'm pretty much done patronizing WCA for anything but their range.

It's not about the high transfer cost as much as the principle of penalizing your customers... and I won't support that kind of business. Fuck them and any business that adopts that kind of mentality.

Agreed 100%. Much of my online browsing is at night, and deals disappear quickly.

I've had AWESOME FFLs in the past that had NO PROBLEM being told in the morning "Hey, I'm expecting a xxx from Buds Guns..." They were happy to have a transfer fee. ZERO stocking for them. A free $25 to process a form.

3. A locking device if the firearm being transferred is a pistol (must be able to lock the action on the firearm).

Is this the law?

Amendment to CGA 68

Most FFL's will sell you 'a lock' for $5 or less.
Doesn't have to fit, but it does have to lock.

ATF sez:
https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/open- ... 5/download

This serves to notify you that Public Law 109-92 (119 Stat. 2095), the Protection of Lawful Commerce in
Arms Act, was enacted October 26, 2005. Section 5 of Public Law 109-92, cited as the Child Safety Lock
Act of 2005 (CSLA), amended the Gun Control Act by adding Section 922(z) to 18 U.S.C.
This new section makes it generally unlawful for “any licensed importer, manufacturer, or dealer to sell, deliver, or
transfer any handgun to any person, other than another licensee, unless the transferee (buyer) is provided
with a secure gun storage or safety device for that handgun.”

Well shit, I did keep the new ones that I never used over the years. But I freely admit I did not know this is the law for used handguns. Has it stopped any crimes?

Anyway, the fact remains... $10 or $15 is reasonable to run a BCG thru a system. $50 is not. North of $50 or punishing a customer is poor business practice. I didn't realize this was a math test when I started posting here.

Some of ya'll have very little internet courtesy.

Now you know :ROFLMAO: :thumbsup2:
I agree that that 50 is too much. I'm not sure it's a poor business practice though, as I think their position is "Here's the incentive to buy from us instead of buying the same new gun somewhere else"
I understand that, but I will use other FFL's for transfers and out of state purchases before I use them. Pantel Tactical is my go to for transfers at this time. Check them out if you get a chance. Great shop and people.

If you can't make money doing transfers for $50/each, something is wrong. with. you.

That's more than the profit margin on cheaper guns.

They have to cover the insurance premium increase from the *two* burglaries somehow, right?

Let me throw this in.
Mary's Guns - Tacoma
Dan & Mary own/run the place.
Their price on transfers have always been $50 IIRC.
They don't want to deal with the paperwork and taxes. That is what Dan told me.
It's priced high enough to discourage people from using them as a transfer station.

OTOH, the prices of what they sell can sometimes be killer!
I've known a few people here that swear at them, cuz they come out of the store broke. Although carrying a new toy. :ROFLMAO:

I did a transfer at marys last fall, I don't recall it being 50. I don't remember what it was exactly though.
