WaGuns Long Range Group Shoot

When:
October 3-6, 2022

Timeline:
Oct 3 Monday Check in - Half Day Range
Oct 4 Tuesday Full Day Range
Oct 5 Wednesday Day to explore (range closed)
Oct 6 Thursday Check out - Half Day Range

Where:
NCSC -
North Cascades Sportsman's Club (aka Chelan Gun Club)
https://chelangunclub.com/

PO Box 1721
Chelan, WA 98816

This is a member only club.
I'm a member so each shooter is only responsible to pay the range fee. I believe it's $10 or so a day? Will verify later.

Club Waiver
https://app.waiversign.com/e/5faf127ed6 ... event=none

Long Range Targets
https://chelangunclub.com/long-range-targets/

Why:
Long range shooting out to hoping 1,000 yards (see link above). Depending on weather (if it's too warm still - the range is limited for fire danger).
If they are clear - we can shoot out to 1,000 yards.

So, I have a timeshare and lots of points.
I booked a place in Chelan near the IGA and across from Don Morse Memorial Park.

47.843227931410716, -120.02351482441725

Place to stay:
I have a 3 bedroom plus a pullout sofa. It sleeps 8. I can have 2-4 folks join if you don't mind sharing a room or book yourself your own.

I'm not making any money off this. I wanted to provide an opportunity for members.
$20 for the whole 3 nights, 4 days. But to secure I want a deposit of $200 (I will refund after first day unless you no show). So you pay me $220 to begin and I pay you back $200 after you show.
I hate when people don't show but I wanted to provided an experience for those that can't always make it to Lake Chelan and the gun range and to meet other like minded folks on WaGuns.

I can take PayPal, Venmo or check.

Paypal
oldkim@aol.com

Venmo
@oldkim

First to pay for reservation basis. Cannot back out 1 month before event (Sept 1) without loss of deposit. This is a Monday - Thursday event.

PM if you have questions.

Nice! We did this once before, and it was a good "chill" time. We spent a lot of time lobbing Mosin bullets and the 1000-round steel target . . . and we even hit it a few times.

Here's a thread on our last experience: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=19940

I'm in!

That was one of the best times I had shooting. All day long to shoot as much as you wanted. I realized the limits of my scope and found out I could hit steel at 1000 with an open sight Mosin. Just 14' hold over...

The last one was in 2013. Wow?!

How time has gone by in a blink.

So last time I had recently gotten into Mosin Nagant’s for price of rifles and ammo. Cheap as we were all faced with the fallout of Sandyhook in 2011.

Sadly, we are repeating some of that history presently.

I just sold off all my surplus.
This isn’t just a historic long range shoot. You can bring whatever you want (except what the range rules don’t allow - tracers etc).

My plan this round is to possibly have my 9 year old stretch out his long range shooting legs to see and understand how distance will impact his shooting.

Physics. Yup! It’s all physics. Mass, distance, speed and even the good rotation of the world and how environmental factors impact the glide path trajectory of the bullet.

Lots of .22 and .223/5.56 for me.

Budget wise:
Plan on gas, food and ammo cost for yourself.
Range fee is about $10 a day.
If you stay with me it’s $20 for the 3 nights

My place has a kitchen and is fully stocked with pans etc. We will venture out and mostly eat out.

Wed will be a free day to explore. Maybe do a cruise up to Stehekin?

But if you plan on coming - bring lots of ammo. Spotting scope and dress warm.

Weather is the biggest factor. It can sunny and warm to downright snow and frost. It might even rain. Lol

Shooting benches are covered.

Alright last call.

No room but you are more than welcome to join in at the range.

1) please pay range fee before. No cell coverage at range. Can’t get service.

2) please print out waiver and proof of payment

3) please let me know you are coming. I am a member so unless you want to drive all the way up there and find a locked gate. We need to plan things out.

4) yes as a member I have the gate code.

5) range is closed on Wed

What a great time on this range.

Sadly, due to such beautiful weather the range was not opened for the 1,000 yards as planned. Only out to their normal 300 yards.

Still a great time to shoot and chat and learn a few things here and there.

Can you see the 1,000 yard target?

Yep, oldkim and I had a chill few days at Lake Chelan, it was a nice getaway. Shooting-wise, we had a relaxing day at a nice range, but we weren’t able to do the long-range shooting that we hoped to do.

We knew that before we left, but chose to go anyhow and I’m glad we did. thumbsup
