Hi Friends,

It’s time for another whisky tasting at The Flat Iron Grill.

This time, we will be featuring a Single Malt from each region of Scotland. Each whisky will be paired with a dish created by our talented chef, Jeffrey Olsen.

Each whisky will be presented by Yours Truly, wherein I will guide you through nosing and tasting and provide you with info and history on each distillery. I’ll show you how to get most out of the character and flavor of these remarkable whiskies.

The whiskies:

Glenkinchie 12yr (Lowlands)
Dalwhinnie 15yr (Highlands)
Singleton of Glendullan 12yr (Speyside)
Oban 14yr (Coastal Highlands)
Talisker 10yr (Islands: Isle of Skye)
Lagavulin 16yr (Islay)

When: Thursday, January 25th. 7:00pm.
Where: The Flat Iron Grill. 317 NW Gilman Blvd #28, Issaquah, WA 98027.
Cost: $80.

How to reserve a seat(s): Send an email to info@theflatirongrill.com or call (425)-657-0373.

Hope to see you there!

-Breck

Oh man, the one I went to was SO good. I'll have to see if I can find a date. Preferably one who doesn't drink...

Similar question. If I bring my wife to the dinner (she doesn't drink whisky) can I have her portion of the whisky or would that be over serving? She's driving.

The samples will be 0.5oz each, so, 3oz total per person. (Basically 2 shots). I have no issue with you taking your wife’s samples, especially if she’s driving. You will also be able to order beer, wine, & cocktails from the bar if whisky isn’t your forte.

Folks, I'd encourage you to attend this if there's any way you can. I've been to two of these events now, and both have been a hell of a lot of fun!

This part isn't for Breck's eyes:

Spoiler: show
If you're not a Scotch drinker, or if your friend or significant other isn't a Scotch drinker, DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU! While it's billed as a "Scotch Whisky Dinner," you need to think of this as one hell of a tasty and interesting dinner, with some Scotch and entertainment thrown in. The food is DELICIOUS, and it's fascinating to have the chef come out and explain each dish as it's served. Bring a buddy or spouse, even if he/she doesn't think that they like whisky.

In addition to top-notch food, of course the whisky is top-shelf stuff . . . but the real star is Breck, as he teaches/entertains the crowd. He'll explain the history of whisky, how it's made, show you (and let you taste) some of the ingredients, and generally keep you entertained through the whole dinner.

I call this "instant date night in a package." :thumbsup2:

And if you don't have a date or a friend to bring, don't worry. It's very social, with everyone around a couple of different tables, so you'll be chatting it up with the other folks that are there. You won't be sitting alone.

I won't be there next week because I'll be at SHOT, but I sure plan to be at the one after that . . . .

This needs to be on a weekend! I would love to make one of these. Just too damn hard on a Thursday. Good luck Breck, I'm confident it will be a hit just like last time.

Take a Friday off. You can crash in my guest bedroom. I might even tuck you in :inlove:

Ughh, Steve and Dan have been talking these up and wife and I would love to go! But "midweek" is just not an option given the drive distance and both on road early for work. Probably tough as restaurant busy on Friday, but if you ever can do a Friday let us all know!

Well folks, the food menu for this dinner has been posted. Check this out:

Smoked oysters with sherry peppercorn bacon sauce.

Brined scallop carpaccio with grilled pear/Black radish salad

Haggis, neeps (turnips), and tatties (potatoes) with lamb gravy and apricot jelly.

Braised ribeye over sunchoke chips w/ smoky cherry sauce.

Lemon sorbet with chervil.

Whole roasted green apple custard.

Don’t miss out on this one, folks.

Still seats available.
