I teach down along the Columbia River Gorge, have done teaching with Klickitat County Sheriff, City Of White Salmon Police and Skamania County Sheriff, and some combined training in Oregon with Wasco and Hood River Counties...nothing up in the Yakima area.
My facility is not indoor, everything is out in the weather...I do train year 'round...rain, shine, sleet...ya never know when you may have to engage.
When I was the LE agency firearms instructor, I would make all the scheduling for training...and it went on no matter the weather. Gunfights know no season.

You teach all the classes? All three of you? Split them up? Max class size for run the rifle?

My intention is to teach all the classes, which is why I limit classes to about 2 per month. Max class size limit for all classes is 8 at this point. I want to give the students the attention they deserve for the time and money they are putting out.
I keep my span of control at 4, when there's 5 or more I add in one of the others.
Troy and Mark are working together on a higher end course which incorporates team and medical evac curriculum. It'll be a bit taxing, but having gone through some like courses in the past, it'll be something that can be used in many different situations.

That's a pretty impressive resume! Thanks for taking the time to answer all of our members questions and concerns as well. I realize I'm new to the training industry now, and will have to do some proving before folks will be comfortable enough to test the waters with me. After being in one major confrontation early on in my career, I realized that the firearms training being taught and the qualifications given, were sorely inadequate for street use. The patriarchs of the industry then, Cooper, Chapman and others were very good at teaching the efficiency and smoothness required to present the pistol on target as well as the manipulations required, but didn't go much into actual street use, other than mind set. I changed my training and teaching shortly after, and was immediately met with obstinance as one can imagine. After all, I was the young buck on the block, what did I know. Over the years my training and instructing have been forged more with street experience, not only of my own, but others as well, rather than the same old...and that's the way we do it attitudes. I've had great opportunities over the years to be able to sit in on some AAR's...debriefs, look over reports, evidence, dash cam footage (body cams weren't around then) and actually interview some of the Officers and civilians involved. That was a great teaching tool for myself and others, and was immediately added into the way I train myself and teach others. I was able to input some of this into the academy curriculum back when I was teaching at the academy in 2008. Therefore the statement on the website...our training is experience driven.

But find some are still not comfortable yet with doing it. I don't force the issue, so leave it as an option to those. By the time we reach the "Run the Gun" level, I would hope that students would get comfortable with such things. Yes, its a gun...its dangerous, let's move on...nothing to see here. But before each class starts, we go through a meet and greet along with what the student wants to get out of the class. Some want to be better shooters and nothing more, and I see nothing wrong with that. While others want to set their tail and fire and run like the wind...and there's everything in between. We tailor make the class as we go, as students develop. So you may take the same class, but it may be a bit different depending on student make-up, goals etc. I enjoy making sure folks get their needs met.

So, if a group wanted to train together, and you judged them 'capable', you might cover partner/team tactics?

Yes. We want to cater to groups with special training requests.
In the "About Us", you'll find a part that reads..."We not only offer date selected classes, but if you have a group that likes to train together we will tailor make a class that fits your groups needs at no extra charge…we are student driven."
Had a group of four come down from Bremerton last fall for a two day "Run the Rifle" class. We used the "Run the Gun" curriculum, didn't get as far as the curriculum goes, but that's ok...we went as far as they were retaining the info, and making sure the proper learning paths were being instilled. One of the students review is on the website.
We don't believe in "Advanced Gunfighting Skills". In all the AAR's I have attended, and interviewing folks over the years, never ever heard anyone say, "Well that was an advanced gunfight I was involved in." Cruise the video sites, and check out the gunfight footage...its all over the place as to what might be encountered. Then do a self check, is this how you train...am I prepared for such off the wall encounters...am I outside of my comfort zone.
Your gunfight is going to be what it will be, and you may not have any control over how it goes after it starts. So as one advances up the skill level food chain, one adds techniques to use should certain problems arise during the fight that need to be solved, such as positional platforms, working around barriers, group maneuver etc.
One can search the net for pistol/rifle drills galore, but do they do anything that's relevant for street use...if that's your goal. That should be your standard...that's ours.

Am ok with pistol caliber carbines. Have had people do the class with M14's, AR-10's, AK's, and Ruger Mini variants.
We work out to 25 yards...but as the class states, its all about running the gun efficiently, not so much on distance.
