Since Dan is still drunk, the fancy-schmancy iPhone X pics are gonna have to wait . . . so we'll make do with mine for now.

Let's start with the menu for the night. Pardon the folds; that's the only way it was gonna make it home! Everyone gets the same thing, which is one serving of everything on the menu:

Image

The alcohol theme was bourbons that were finished in casks that were previously used for a different kind of alcohol, so you got a bit of that other alcohol's flavor in the whiskey.

First up was the roasted pear and the Belle & Meade; I think this was my second-favorite bourbon of the night.

Image

Next came the risotto, which is red because it was cooked with cabernet sauvignon, and the Blood Oath Pact III bourbon. Note that the dark spots on the grapes are because they've been blistered, aka cooked just a bit.

Image

Then came the lamb and Angel's Envy, which was a crowd-pleaser:

We thought that lamb was good, but then came the petite tenderloin and the Woodford Reserve. The tenderloin doesn't look like much in the photo, but let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS. Cooked just right (medium rare at the most), very tender, and full of flavor.

And finally, dessert. This was a tres leches cake, nice and soggy with sweetness, and Angel's Envy Rye . . . and that bourbon was like a dessert in itself. Breck commented that it smelled like eggnog, and that was spot-on! This was definitely my favorite drink of the night.

Breck was a champ, as always -- entertaining and knowledgeable, and a great host!

I'm already booked for the Irish whiskey dinner on March 18th, along with five of my friends. I'd suggest calling the soon if you're interested; it's the usual deal, $80/person and it starts at 5:00 p.m.

Oh . . . I should also mention that they are having the SAME bourbon dinner that we had last night again next Sunday. It's a repeat, same bourbon, same food.

So if anyone's interested, give the Flat Iron Grill a call and see if they still have space.
