A free informational class includes the things you need to know to shoot responsibly on public land. Attachment: Poster 1 Pub 2 500 small.jpg Where to shoot? What to shoot? How to be legal? Are there any rules? Can I shoot milk jugs and propane tanks? Group shooting & sharing. Etiquette. Ethics. Basic firearms safety rules. Fire/public/personal safety. Way too far south for me to attend, but kudos for doing this! I'd love to hear how it goes!

I am free because I say I am. My freedom is not dependent on any government benefit or piece of legislation. My rights are inherent in the fact that I was born a sovereign being. They are non-negotiable. The government can list them and protect them, but my rights are not theirs to give away.

I'd love to see how it goes too! It's my first rodeo with this class. The class is geared more toward the new shooter and those who've been feeling the tugging on the strings and want to finally learn more about the rules and change up their game.
I'll post an update after it's over.

After seeing ranges closed down in So Cal, notably the Angeles Natl Forest Ranges for being trash pits, this is a worthy effort! We must clean up after ourselves and ensure others (minority) do the same!

Thanks All. I'm gettin nervous now! Only a few hours till show time.
Awe, I'll do just fine. I've got another Trash No Land guy with me and a DNR Police Officer who will bale me out several times I'm sure! Having all topics on a slide show will make it fairly easy to cover the issues. I'll also have some show-n-tell target examples on hand. We are giving away one free prize as an incentive to attend. It will be a pair of electronic ear muffs. Sportsman's is also throwing in some discount coupons and a little swag.
I didn't do a per-register so I don't know how many will be there. It's simply open free to walk in. One of these days I'll get around to getting an event registration form on our website, however, I'm afraid of it turning out to by like all the others on social media where most will click 'Interested' just to show their friends that they are a concerned and socially responsible person (but really have no intention of going).
I have 3 more classes to do this summer. The class will get better as I'll learn from each one and fine tune it as we go. By next year, we may be able to attract a couple people to put on the class anywhere in the NW. I'll provide the outline & materials.
I'll post up a note on how it went!
Bill

Great class today! 22 people showed up! They started signing in at 1:30, had a line up for a while and class started on time at 2. Good discussions and participation by attendee's. It was well worth the effort! Quite pleased! Here's a part of it... https://youtu.be/7ARsHx5zxJw

Very nice, Bill!
I wish our law enforcement agencies had the manpower to actually get out there and crack down on the litterers and dangerous shooters. That would make a HUGE difference.

You know how the Mariners & Seahawks hire off-duty police for their events? I wonder if, somehow, over time, we could start a fund or non-profit (or maybe a Wagunnie thingy ) , where we pay a ranger to spend a block of time on a weekend, or once a month, or whenever, to monitor the area and enforce basic rules that get overlooked or ignored. Perhaps, over time, word would get out that it isn't a free-for-all, trash the land kind of place. Just a thought based off Madpick's statement....

I've often considered that as well. Especially for a night patrol, because that's when a lot of bad stuff happens (and then you'd need two on duty). A lot to think about in that idea! A grant for that would be nice!

This dialog leads me to wonder where each dollar of my hunting license, tags, and public land access fees go. Even though I understand partly why they are comparatively high in price, I’d support an additional dollar for more LEO.

Even though I understand partly why they are comparatively high in price, I’d support an additional dollar for more LEO. I haven't tracked it down yet but I'm learning a little more all the time. The DNR Discover pass dollars, I believe, go to the State's general fund for recreation and they distribute down to each forest. Nothing specifically for Recreational Shooting. They have a grant program that each forest can apply for to do improvements like more trails and such, but improvements to shooting related activity is not in the program. (Yet?) Hunting & tags go to Fish & Wildlife and those get dispersed across a lot of departments like Hunter Ed, conservation and more. I hear we contribute to the Pittman - Robertson Act every time we buy ammunition. Those funds are available as grants for hunting conservation projects and shooting range developments. That's a good program and I plan to apply for that to help with more shooting lane improvements down in Tillamook State Forest, Or. I'd love to find a grant program that's designed to support increased Law Enforcement on public lands. I think we could nail a lot of illegal dumping. It would also crash some of those midnight kegger parties I remember so dearly ! Bummer!
