So, what's the theory as to why annealing improves accuracy? More consistent neck tension?

Why a different recipe? Different rifle, or trying to get a group smaller than the diameter of the bullet [emoji23]

After spending some time cleaning/adjusting my new die sets I made a few 44mag dummy rounds. This was the best of the lot, but still needs some tweaking.

I’ve slowly been working on trimming around 2000 cases for my 300 blk. I need a different trimmer. The lee trimmer chucked in my drill isn’t cutting it. The shell holder goes crooked and sometimes doesn’t hold the shell tight enough so it wrecks the rim of the case.Image

So you don’t build a load development? I cringe at pulling 10 or 20 bullets that did not work to my satisfaction and can only imagine my worst nightmare to have to pull down 1000.
But you being a master reloader, you undoubtedly know some things that I don’t.

Good luck.

I too seem to find more dirty brass that needs the Thumbler massage therapy. I have two of them.

I have had several people ask me "Why anneal?"

A couple of pictures will be worth 1000 words.

Both targets were shot with the EXACT SAME LOAD and specifications.
The only difference is one set of cases were annealed and the others were not.

Both targets are 12 rounds fired at 100 yards.

Wow. That might just convince me to buy an annealer sometime when we're all immune to COVID-19!

I was truly shocked by the difference, in this rifle, that annealing made.
I would have a hard time believing it if I hadn't shot it...

During my range trips to the pit, I have found that I pick up more 223/556 brass that are annealed. Most of it is LC and Federal.
Will these cases, after being shot and tumbled cleaned show more accuracy than the non annealed cases. Or are the freshly annealed the most accurate?
Thanks in advance.
