If you are having problems metering stick powder then you are using the wrong meter/powder drop. I have been using the same Lyman 55 for 25 years. Once you understand how to stair step the slides you can set it and be accurate to 1/10 of a grain even using stick powers. For .308 I use mostly a Lee 155 grain .311 and size down and gascheck so the final weight winds up being 160 grain. I have used five different powders with equal accuracy. The only rifle I load on a progressive is 5.56 but if I was to load .308 on a progressive the I would use a powder such as Reloader 19.
