I got some of the 208 grain ELDM bullets and following the load data it says 2.12 oal
Here is what that looks like. Is it just me, or does it look too deep? I even checked it on both of my calipers???
For reference, this will be suppressed in a 10.5” barrel and using 1680 somewhere in the neighborhood of 10.4g-11g

What do you guys think?

At the point where the case mouth touches the bullet, is the diameter 0.308"?

Well, I think I'd want it to be full diameter at the case mouth. If you use a longer OAL:

- Is there still sufficient bullet in the case? Like roughly one diameter (0.3")?
- Will the bullet hit the rifling when you chamber a round? With a clean chamber, push the cartridge into the chamber with your thumb. Point the gun upwards, and the cartridge should fall out on its own.

If there's sufficient bullet in the case, and the bullet doesn't hit the rifling, I'd use a longer OAL.

Those are cute but even with pistol powder are going to drop like a stone and be useless much past 100 years. I went with a bullet that I cast for .32 ACP & S&W and sized down for practice and cast zinc for hunting. The zincs wound up at 107 and the lead at 95 so they should be close enough to not mess with sights.

True, but sometimes subsonic is just plain fun, for the hell of it. :thumbsup2:

Yes, that's too deep. Did you use load data for a different bullet? Or somebody's typo in load data?

Mag length is 2.260", so you can go out that far. Load what fits your rifle and magazines.

About 8.0gr of Lil'gun should work well for that one. With subsonics, always start higher and work down. Do not start low and work up, you risk sticking a bullet in the bore.

I'm just going to go with what I know. I'll save the 208s for another time.
i don't feel like being frustrated tonight :)

11.2 gr of AA1680
220 gr Berry's SP
OAL: 2.100"
out of my 10.5 inch barrel

I use basically the same load. But my OAL is 2.250, and 11.5 of 1680. Pretty good load, accurate enough as well.

I'm still curious what data you're actually using. I'm betting it's for a different bullet, and that's the source of your frustration.

Never use OAL values from data for a different bullet. Sometimes the powder charge weight can be similar or the same, but OAL can vary a LOT between different bullets.

BTW - Hornady reloading data for the 300 Blk with that 208gr ELD lists 2.250" OAL.
2.120" is way too short, as your pic showed.

Use a Bullet Comparator and then you will have an accurate measurement.
