Fellow Reloaders,

Does anyone know where to purchase any Winchester 244 locally (anywhere between Olympia and Bellevue)? I'm very interested in giving this powder a test spin, particularly for my 9mm and 40S&W loads. I'd prefer to support a local business rather than the World Wide Web (plus fork over HAZMAT fees & shipping). If any of you WaGunners happen to have a pound or so for sale, PM me.

I'm also open to suggestions regarding other powders that burn comparably to 244, other than HP-38/W231 (my current powders of choice) and CFE Pistol. I reload coated bullets most of the time (Blue Bullets), so I shy away from fast burning powders ( Titegroup  ) Thanks in advance.

Awe hell, I just bought a few pounds from Grafs. I'll report on it as I develop loads. Hopefully it will be beneficial to the community.

Powder has arrived! I'm going to work up a few loads in 9mm/40 S&W and see how it goes.

I had never heard of it until you posted. It certainly sounds like good stuff, at least according to Winchester.

Looking forward to the report!

Finally got around to loading some rounds utilizing the this Winchester 244. Attempted to get some chrono data, but my ProChrono DLX didn't like the indoor range. I will get to an outdoor range by Monday to try again and provide velocities.

I developed loads in 40 S&W for my Canik P120 using once fired Federal and Winchester brass, RMR 180 grain plated bullets, and powder drops of 4.4, 4.6, 4.8, 5.0, & 5.2 grains. Case Overall Length at 1.105 to reliable feed in the P120. Hodgdon's Reloading suggests a 4.8-5.3 grain range, with a C.O.L of 1.125. This powder meters exceptionally well. I fired 25 rounds of each load. At 15 yards from a standing position, the 4.4-4.8 loads grouped well and were on par with HP-38 and Winchester 231 loads I have developed in the past. Very manageable recoil and cycled the gun fast for follow-up shots. The 5.0 & 5.2 opened up just a tad, and there was more "felt" recoil, but still less than a box of factory produce plinking rounds. Clean burning and no pressure signs throughout all of the tested powder drops. The upper drops did scorch the case a bit, similar to what Titegroup does to cases. Did I mention this stuff burns clean? Like I don't have to clean my gun tonight clean.

Hope you guys find this post useful and I'll provide more data soon.
