I have a Redding 2400 and I'm not sure I like it. What do you guys use?
Looking for easy to use, and accurate.
Thanks

Giraud power trimmer. Buy once, cry once, and pat yourself on the back for being such a smart m'fer every time you use it.

The Tri-way is pretty good too, so I hear. It's a different product than the Power Trimmer. Here's what Doug Giraud told me about the Tri-Way: "It is intended only for high volume milsurp and super popular stuff. As a rule of thumb, if you can’t find the ammo and a rifle in that size at Walmart, it won’t be available in the Triway. It was developed for a different market than the high power shooter or serious marksman." Here's my experience with the Power Trimmer: viewtopic.php?f=74&t=2058

yup. I've used it for dressing LC milsurp for my M1A when loading at my friend's house. Not going to squeeze the last drop of accuracy from the cartridges I roll, but they get pretty good. My buddy uses it to dress his 6.5CM hunting rounds and he's a way better shooter than me. (matter of fact he just got back from hunting in Africa). So it works pretty well if you have a drill press and don't want to drop $4-500 on the power trimmer. One thing to note: Giraud recommends using the Tri-way trimmer in the horizontal position (prevents clogging) but my buddy is somewhat lazy and we have used it in the drill press in a vertical position. (just empty it out more often?)

I hemmed and hawed for a long time...finally saved up and dropped the coin for one. No...it's NOT cheap. But I sat down and trimmed, chamfered and deburred 200 .308 cases in about 15 minutes--and that was taking my time! I'm hooked on it. I got the big boy... http://www.giraudtool.com/giraud-power-trimmer.html

Yea, I'm not looking to spend a fortune, but I need a trimmer. I don't mind spending $100.
I was thinking Lyman Ezee trimmer? Or Hornady Lock n Load? Or the Lyman bench top?
I wish I had the $$$ to spend on the best one, but it's just not in the cards for me right now. I wish I liked the Redding I got, but the collet for it sucks.

Depending on your calibers a Triway is bad ass. Mine is for .223. I also have an RCBS setup with a Triway trimmer that is nice. RCBS has more availability and options when it comes to a standard trimmer. What calibers are you doing?

I use a Forster original case trimmer and it works great. It isn't fast or sexy, but it gets the job done. Plenty accuracy for me and if I ever want to upgrade there are lots of additional parts that can be added to it such as power adapters, neck reamers, neck turning tools, hollow pointers...etc.

The 2400 is slow, but is very accurate. It depends on what you are trying to do. You have to make sure you are seating consistently in the collet. For my higher volume stuff, I used Little Crow Gunworks' Worlds Finest Trimmer. It does as good job when chucked in my drill. I can run through them pretty fast with acceptable tolerances. World's Finest TrimmerThe downside is you have to have one for each caliber you trim.

For precision trimming I was using a Forster trimmer but have made the switch to a L.E. Wilson trimmer with a micrometer. This is a lot easier and much more precise. I do have the Forster 3-in-1 trimmer which trims, deburs, and chamfers, the OAL wasn't consistent due to the collet but boy did it look good. The L.E. Wilson sets up much easier but requires a separate chamfering step (I do not debur) but it is accurate and consistent.

I bought three, never cried and continually pat myself on the back when I am trimming. I have two that remain dedicated. One for 223/5.56 and one for 308. The third one is the "designated hitter" for all other calibers. These are the best trimmers on the market....PERIOD
