Best news of the week! I think we may need Oldandcranky1 as an ambassador or something. If he can convert old11bravo to reloading, he's got some kind of magic touch! This is very cool, Ron. You're serious about your shooting, and you need to be serious about your ammo too.

old11bravo wrote: Tip of the iceberg i'd say. Got that shit right. Pretty soon you'll be investing in more equipment and every possible tool guaranteed to improve accuracy. Your reloading bench will grow in size until it takes over an entire room. You'll have components (Brass, Bullets, Primers, and Powder) stockpiled in quantities that will both cause floors to sag (and doors jam) and make you fear a visit from the local fire marshall. It's a disease that only gets worse and once infected the only cure is to shoot more, and more, and more. I've had this disease for decades and have no intention of seeking a cure. Just more good brass.

Congrats for taking the R pill (reloading)!! The Rabbit Hole runs deep and you are just entering, good luck with it brother. I just started this Hobby three short years ago and I'm now building a 10 x 12 insulated room to further my addiction to reloading in the winter months.

Welcome to reloading!! As deadshot said, soon you’ll be buying all sorts of tools! First thing should be an electronic scale! You’ll never look at another balance beam again!

I had a phone call this morning with the seller of a fine precision 308, which I desperately want to purchase. I want to run subsonics for the most part, and reloading also seems like something I need to look into.
I am overdue to learn to reload 9mm, 45ACP, and 308 if I go through with this purchase. I put my Glock 35 up for sale to fund at least part of that purchase.
I guess I need a class on this as well, but haven't known who I might be able to get it from. If someone were to help me figure out how to do it, I would probably owe them a ton. I don't have a garage to reload in so it is likely to be in my living room, so I would have to have a portable setup that I could put up and take down.

Yeah, wives love it when you reload in the living room! Sheesh honey, it's not like I'm cookin' meth, it's just ammo. right? Mine complains when I shine my boots in the house but it's the smell of the Kiwi polish. At least the powder don't smell... unless you ignite it I suppose.

fortunately my shoe polish kit doesn't stink now.
I did clean up an old rifle last week and used the Original style Hoppes number 9 solvent. I love the smell of the stuff but she just about started throwing shoes. Normally I clean my guns with the the Hoppes number 9 oil, that doesn't smell.
:)
I don't have a garage so finding a place to reload, other than a portable setup, is going to be a challenge. I have some hungry guns though.

If you want to run subs 300 blackout is better than 308 subs for the most part. It’s hit or miss stabilizing 308 subs from what I’ve read. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s because most 308 rifles are 1:10 or slower twist and subsonic 220gr needs like 1:8 or less to stabilize.
