If you don't have a concealed pistol license, there is NO guarantee on when you will get your pistol or revolver. We wait until your county sheriff's department, city's police department, or South Sound 911 (in Pierce Co.) says you have a proceed after they finish the two criminal and the mental health checks. It takes as long as it takes the agency to finish the checks. It could be a day, it could be three weeks... it could be longer... especially if they put a hold on it. There are no guaranteed delivery times. The five day wait in the RCW does not mandate transferring the handgun.

Even if you do have a CPL, or are buying a rifle, it's not guarantee that you won't get a "delay" from the FBI-NICS while they continue to check your background out. It is completely out of our control.

That's a bummer. WA has a BUNCH of laws in the hunting/fishing/shooting world and they sure make things difficult.
Example: AZ CCW permit = no back ground check, walk in show your card walk out with gun. They did the background check to give you the card.
Example: AZ fishing license+ species and area stamps= go fish. Here, what a slew of rules, when, how, where, what gear, what species on what day and sometimes down to specific hours to start and stop.

I like it up here but seems some things are too complex.

We're supposed to be a NICS exempt state with newer permits, but the RCW, from years ago says a NICS check will be done... "once it goes online"... DOL sent a letter out a week after the ATF did. We have to make cops wait if they don't have a CPL! We have codes that contradict each other, often from poor grammar, or not thinking it seems.
